GAMING Call of Duty: Community Update August 2025
callofduty.comThey are saying they'll stop making goofy and immersion-breaking cosmetics.
I would have believed them if their pre-order skins were not: A nazi robot from the futur and a geth-looking alien robot.

NERD CULT. Place to read accurately translated manga?
I'm not sure if this question is appropriate to ask here, but I don't know where else to ask the question without being accused of something. I was wondering where I can read manga that is translated accurately instead of it being localized. I was reading Spy x Family but when a character said, "Whole enchilada" I think that was localized, and a part in Chainsaw Man where Denji was in a bath tub singing about "Unions" and other stuff like that. Now I no longer feel like buying physical manga anymore, so does anyone know where to read manga, either by downloading or browsing?

DISCUSSION The hate against Wuthering waves, Zenless zone zero and Otaku culture (And what I think it means)
So the thing that inspired me to type this up was something that went down on the ZZZ community (it’s a gacha game). Basically a male character called Komano Manato got drip marketed, he was an A rank (or a 4 star) character, his future mains got upset he wasn’t a S rank, they review bomb the game.
Classic gacha gamer tribalism stuff. But I noticed something in the frustration of these players… they seemed very bitter that the game was more interested in pleasing the waifu appreciaters rather than the husbando fans. A few of them would throw out “Incel” here and there, even. And to me, it just seemed like they were just salty that they weren’t the ones being fanserviced.
It made me think, gacha games seem to be one of the genres that wokeness just can’t crack. (Though it is probably because of the fact that most of the time, the games are chinese.)
It is strange because at least with the western fandom, there seems to be a complete repulsion towards Otaku culture.
An example of this would be the difference between the Wuthering waves and Genshin communities. Don’t get me wrong, Wuwa’s community IS NOT perfect. But there is generally not very much toxicity, hell they made a whole meme to combat toxicity. (PRAISE THE CAMELLYA!) Everyone is just happy with their waifus and it’s just wholesome and everyone is chill with each other.
And then there is Genshin and well… yeah… from the boycotts to the Sag Aftra stuff, The constant and insufferable shipping drama. It’s just… not nice, man… (And I’ll just say this, even if the game itself isn’t woke, it’s fans sure as hell are.)
But notice that the fandom that is not toxic is the game where the devs give their players the fanservice they want, are unashamed to show that they’re main audience is men, and ACTUALLY EMBRACES OKAKU CULTURE. Everyone just goons and is chill.
But it’s definitely an interesting observation I’ve made.

GAMING Borderlands 4. A character named Conway is "Non-binary" and uses “They/Them” pronouns

In a gameplay video of Borderlands 4, a character named Rush talks about Conway and says : "head up and see my second-in-command, Conway. (They've) got a thank you gift for helping us out"
At 7:02
https://youtu.be/XK2qNsnKLqc?t=422
The game also looks very boring. I couldn't bear to watch the entire video even though I'm a huge Borderlands fan

OPINION I don't Like When Writing/Design In Entertainment Is Jarring(Echoes Of The End)
So I was looking for a game to play and stumbled across Echoes of the End, the name game from the Icelandic studio Makyr Games. Right from the hop, it was very jarring as the main character, a female who looks half black, was very cold and rude towards her brother. I unfortunately took this as "Oh great, another terribly written female character", but continued on as I wanted to give it a chance. I thought, "Well, it seems with some of the things implied, that she might have hang ups due to past events, I can understand being short and or distance because of that". But it just kept going on, even after an important event in the game that kicks it off proper.
Then it really started to take me out of things because everyone I've encountered thus far has been white, but she and her brother are not. So I started getting this sinking feeling that this was purposefully written this way and was a "feminist" written story. I checked the games website and lo and behold, it was all the usual rich people claptrap and self fellatio, same for the main actresses social media.
The game just became so incredibly jarring, it would be one thing to have the game set in say modern day Iceland, but having it set in a fantasy one which takes from the past, and having this black girl boss running around was just wack. It kept taking me out of the game so bad.
I'm just so tired of this nonsense where you fire up a game, movie, whatever and try to give it a fair shake; but you are just walking into some activists dishonest use of "entertainment". There's a lot more I want to touch on but won't due to spoilers and wanting others to make their own judgements, but this shit needs to stop. I know they like to do the whole "subversion" thing(Which is just creepy and rapey as fuck, beause if you have to lie and manipulate people, you're not a good person at all) I don't care what someone believes ideologically, just at least be honest about it from the get go like Druckmann so I can avoid wasting my time or money.

DISCUSSION Appreciation + Encouragement
Back in 2017, when I decided to stop spending money on SJW/Censored/Woke/ESG/DEI/(insert the ever evolving progressive term) entertainment, the search function on this sub is what I mainly used to look up a product before I decided to splurge the cash on it.
I just want to take a minute to thank all of you who have contributed and stayed on top of current trends to inform us of the recurring atrocities that have affected the entertainment industry. You have saved us all a lot of time and money. I’m happy to say that I still search on here before I buy.
For all of you old timers like me who have more money than time, don’t underestimate the power of keeping your money in your wallet.

DISCUSSION Is the Mojang Lawsuit Legit?
So, basically, apparently there's a lawsuit going on against Mojang for the account migration scandal. Here's the link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmsgJPLbxbc
Basically, I just wanted to make sure I'm not the only guy and that the forms he offers aren't like, a scam or phishing op.
I really want to believe here, and that's why I figured I'd ask here just to be sure.

Gaming journos are now trying to blame the adult game censorship on Project 2025 in a rather slimy way.
8th of August, an article gets published on TheGamer titled:
Under this title, this article gets reposted on various Subreddits such as Gaming, Pcmasterrace, Technology, and FuckCollectiveShout.
The title remained unchanged throughout the 11th of August and probably beyond that date.
If you read the article, you will, of course, see that they have no evidence to support this claim and that their entire article is based on a fact that, more than a year ago, one of the Project 2025 contributors proposed a law that would make adult companies liable if minors gain access to their website. There is no indication that this law is even being considered for implementation.
Then, on the 21st of August, the title of the article gets changed into:
Steam's Content Removal Could Be A Wider Consequence Of Project 2025
So basically, TheGamer wrote an article with an outright false title, allowed it to stay up for more than fourteen days and do the rounds all over Twitter and Reddit, before unceremoniously changing the title into something completely uninteresting but technically true.
Gaming journalists are still gaming journalists.

TsengScans: New open-source AI Manga Translator and Cleaner

Hello everyone. I've just released a new AI-based manga translator tool called TsengScans. Having gotten tired of localizers ruining tons of Japanese manga and anime, as well as niche series getting left in the dust, I decided to create this tool over the last few months to help fan-translators create their own, accurate, translations for manga.
If you're a fan translator, or wanna get started, feel free to give it a try. It's completely open source here on github: https://github.com/kisakibobo/TsengScans-AI-Manga-Translation-and-Writing-Tool
Any promotion would be much appreciated as well. Thank you.

Anyone notice this in the new Lego Batman game?
Looks like they have it say “henchperson” instead of henchman in the upcoming Lego Batman game. Crazy how something as small as the word henchman offends some people.

Computer Game advertisement from 1981
Posted for a glimpse at the earliest days when games were measured in kilobytes. There's a very strong connection between early computer games and historical war gaming, in the times before political correctness was invented. SSI went on to publish about 100 games over their 15 year run, including the well-known D&D 'Goldbox' games.
