Character casting for Netflix's Avatar: Spoiler

So far I have a problem with Katara and Azula characters; first off Katara is a bit too soft, I expected her to have a more authoritative, strict and confident persona. Secondly, let's talk about Azula, we all know her for her blue fire, disappointed when I saw the red. But anyways, at first glance I thought she looked too innocent but as the episode progress her personality is starting to feel more Azula like.

i thought it was pretty good overall - don't complain too much or we will get another botched version lol

I assume you haven't seen the last episode? I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't talk about Azula.

Everyone is saying this about Katara, but I like her enough. I think they picked an actress who has the right look, but her personality shines though too much and doesn't fit the character. I think she'll get stronger in the next season and maybe we'll grow to like her more.

I really wanted Amber Midthunder to be cast as Katara. Her badass personality and proven ability to pull off some great fight sequences should have made her the only choice for the role. Instead, she was cast as the Northern Water Tribe princess with no fight scenes. Did you see her in Legion or Prey? God she would have been perfect. Okay, the actress they cast has more of a sweet/cute look that matches Katara's appearance better than Midthunder who is maybe a bit too, well, sexy for the role of Katara. Oh well.

This sums up why I thought Midthunder would be a great Katara:

My issue was the writing...the whole thing felt like it was written by someone who had binged the series over like, 2 or 3 days, n then taken another two to three days to make a series out of what they remembered.

I'd still watch more, even if it was more of the same issues. Honestly I still liked it. Nothing was deal breaker bad, and that's really more than I was hoping for.

I agree, I still like it too. It was fun to watch and compare. Looking forward for Season 2. Can't wait to see what they did with Toph.
