Discussion / Question Wtf is going on with the Leinster Senior Cup?
Story lads so some Leinster Senior Cup games happened, Bohs were meant to play Dundalk in their semi final but it was called off? Also in saying that Pats just played their quarter final against Drogheda and now will play St. Mochtas in the 2nd semi final, or in this case the only one as Dundalk apparently got a walk over? (According to wiki). This cup competition has been a headache to keep track of 😂

They couldn't agree on a date for the game. So Bohs gave Dundalk a walkover.
Incidentally, I believe the 2026 Leinster Senior Cup has already kicked off. It can be a bit of a farce at times.

The LSL teams have to qualify to get into the main draw. Wicklow Rovers played Sheriff on the 10th of August. Don't ask me the result.

Was probably a walkover as thats more than half the results in this competition

What happens if a LSL team gets to the final then ? they have to play next season's first game before the final in this season ?
I know it's realistically not going to happen but it's a bit stupid that you have it being theoretically possible.

Bohs pulled out because they're cry babies and didn't want to agree on a date for the game

Do LoI clubs play these LSC games with their reserve side or with their first team?

Usually you get the first team with some youth/reserve players and depending on the scoreline they'll bring on some more non-first teamers

Most use a second string side and young players unless you are Bohs and are terrified of the mighty Usher Celtic in the finals……
It’s a good opportunity for players to get game time or young players to get their first minutes in at senior football, Bohs pulling out this year was farcical, why not let the fringe players or under 19’s have a crack at Dundalk. Too busy focused on New Jerseys, Palestine and poems

I've written about this mental cup before, about two years ago. Am glad to see it hasn't changed its ways.
''The Leinster Football Association Senior Cup (also known more simply as the Leinster Senior Cup, the LSC, or ''Oh yeah that yoke'') is the oldest association football cup competition in the Republic of Ireland and is open to football teams in the kind-of-official-but-not-really-official area of Leinster. If the League of Ireland can claim the moniker Greatest League In The World then this beauty is definitely in the running for Greatest Cup In The World.
This prestigious competition stretches back to 1892, probably back before your ma and da were born. The inaugural final was contested between household names and current powerhouses Leinster Nomads and Dublin University. Following this a period of dominance from Bohemians and Shelbourne, known as the Old Old Firm, continued for 24 years. This duopoly was broken up by everyone's favorite boyhood club Olympia.
When the IFA and the FAI split and held their own domestic cups, the LSC was one of the first recorded victims of sectarianism. It was shunted off to the side and treated like a second class citizen. In the undisputed biggest tragedy of 2001, the Leinster Senior Cup was put on hiatus because some cow got a sore foot and/or mouth over in England. It was left to rot for nearly a decade (the cup, not the cow). When it returned, everyone in Ireland was using a new currency and taking transport on something called the Luas, which is like a bus mixed in with a train.
Some particular highlights of this majestic and marvelous tournament include;
Bohemians once competing in the next years competition 3 days before playing in the final of the current year's one. Work that out. The LSC doesn't adhere to time or space norms.
Take this campaign for instance. Our semi final lineup is 3/4 complete. However Dundalk still have to play Shels in a round 4 tie... which was wrapped up 2 rounds ago. Further to this, Dundalk were in then out then back in. There's no time to explain.
Killester United and Donnycarney FC were both decent LSL sides and sometimes progressed through rounds of the LSC. When Donnycarney were eliminated early one year, they played the Lazarus card and came back from the dead and joined in latter rounds anyway when they just merged in with Killester United. Killester-Donnycarney have gone on to ruin the sport of football as you know with their utter dominance.
So that's it, have a look at your usual spots for updates on the Leinster Senior Cup because there won't be any. It'll just happen and if it does, let us know.''
