Just caught my eye while looking at the competitions wiki that the city headings that I usually associate with London or Madrid is now on Dublin.

As a Linfield fan I am obviously bitterly disappointed with the result, but it was clear as day who deserved to go through after that performance today. Credit to all the travelling fans as well, Irish League crowds aren't normally the loudest so outsinging us was fairly easily done but even so as a home fan I could see how well you support your club. While I naturally couldn't bring myself to watch a LOI team as a supporter I nevertheless hope your team does your fans proud in European competition. Although I hope we never meet again in European qualifiers given how shite we are, I appreciate all the responses from Shels fans to my last couple of posts about our matches and all the best!

☁️ Fluff / Nonsense Am I complete noob or is its understandable?

I was turned away from tolka park yesterday because I was wearing a bohs jersey with a home ticket. Now the security were sound about it and what not but I feel like if I was going to be turned away for it, it should be very obvious not to do it. Now it could be very obvious but im new enough to the leauge and my only experience with football matches were international matches before this and with those ive always been sitting around people with away jerseys. Same with gaa and rugby. And even from what ive seen of other leagues. Also when booking the tickets, it did say (home) on them, but it was the only option for tickets so I didn't even bat an eye. So is this a uniquely league of Ireland thing that you have to know to know or am I just a bit slow?

what would people think of all teams changing their name to the irish version. for example, seachráin bré for bray wanderers. this may be wrong so any gaelgóirí correct me.

but i think this would be great for the irish game in general, playing an english game we need to express our culture as much as possible. especially when playing in europe it would make english broadcasters HAVE to say it in irish. would be great for the language and the country. like imagine how annoyed the unionists up north would be when derry rename themselves cathair dóire.

Waiting until next year to get LOITV and struggling to find reliable ways to follow on the radio. This has been the next best thing. Have a good weekend to all of you.

☁️ Fluff / Nonsense Would you, in theory, support the creation of a new, high-quality Irish football team that would compete in the EFL?

I was reading about Wimbledon FC and how it got franchised into MK Dons (for those who don’t know, the club was relocated from Wimbledon to Milton Keynes). However, there were apparently talks at one point about Wimbledon moving to Dublin instead — the idea being to establish a top-tier Irish team within the English league system, possibly starting in League One. While the plans never materialised, the concept did receive backing from some Irish and English investors.

That got me thinking, if a new Irish team, high quality, was formed today today — say a spot opened up in League One — would you support the idea of a single Irish club competing in the EFL, with all the exposure, financial opportunity, and higher standard of football it would bring?

And if you were able to, would you buy a season ticket, and if you are in favour would you support them?

If your opposed, why not?

Let me know if you'd like a more formal or more casual version.

support them or not?

If not, why not?

☁️ Fluff / Nonsense Expectations for the 2025 Season?

Seems like there's very little other breaking news in the LOI this week so wanted to get some insight into where other fanbases are with their expectations for the coming season.

For Galway, minimum expectation is to avoid the bottom 2.

The maximum I can reasonably expect for the coming season would be sneaking into a European place.

As with all clubs a proper cup run would be a massive bonus to the season
