Hi, I’m starting my degree in maths and applied maths in Maynooth in a few weeks. Just looking for advice on making notes and keeping everything organised. Especially for maths I think my best option is handwriting I have MacBook which I’ll do all my assignments on and stuff but I think in lectures it’s best to write it by hand. I want to keep things neat and organised, I’ve seen some people do refill pads but I would prefer square paper is it okay to use the like hardback maths copies from secondary school and label each copy for its specific module eg one for linear algebra another one for mathematical physics. Any help would be great thx

5 of us girls 18-19 are thinking ab going to malaga for our 6th year holiday next july and just wondering a few things: -worth it? or go somewhere else? -expensive? -is it ridden w weird lads everywhere or will 5 girls be safe alone -is there activities around to do during the day -is it a nightlife place or will it be full of families or old people?

I've seen a lot of people ask this, and English is quite tough in the sense that you never know what's needed.

Having gotten a H1 in English, thought I'll share some tips:

Paper 1

QA:

• Make sure to use plenty quotes
• EXPLAIN each quote in relation to question
• Show personal opinion

QB:

• Answer all parts of the Q (tougher than it sounds - cause you may miss key parts of Q)
• DO NOT write more than ~500 words.
• No waffle, get the point across, and QUICK.

Paper 2

Play:

• Clear structure
• Good quotation, and explain the purpose
• Appropriate language - i.e. use words like climax, eponymous hero, villain etc.

Comparative:

• Structure is the most important part of whole Q
• Compare and contrast as often as you can

Poetry:

• GIVE YOUR OPINION
• Show the examiner you are personally engaging with the poems
• Keep coming to the Q in your answer

I always found English extremely difficult to study, because I never knew what needs to be done for the H1. In the article, I share my experiences and what I did to get the H1. Hopefully it helps!

Ive just started 5th year, I'm hoping to go into music as a career. Is now too early to start looking at college courses and going to open days?? I have no clue what to expect and I dont want to be rushing to find courses in 6th year

To make the story short I missed a lot of school in 5th year due to mental health problems I had( I think my attendance was 21% at one point) and I plan to get my attendance to atleast 80-90% this year. I have missed 3 days so far into 6th year but I’m putting a stop to it now. My Principal has already said that I won’t be accepted to a PLC course because of my attendance from 5th year. Can someone please tell me, does attendance in 5th year Matter for entry to a PLC course??

The people in our school who did PE didn’t do well in their PAPs. In fact results quite low overall for PE in our school so defo not ideal to use theirs as a guide. So Ild love to see a h1 pap if possible?

I know format will change this year. I’ll probably do rugby but even if you had a football, soccer, basketball, hurling, Camogie, hockey etc one that be great.

I've found that apps help me the most but not so much in the maths area.. I'm also so incredibly burnt out already so that's fun uhm yay.!
