Fanfic/book recs
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but looking for some wlw fan fictions (or books!) that fits the vibe of some of the books listed below:
-Charon Docks at Daylight by Z.R. Reed
-Hearing Red by Nicole Maser
-The Order by T.J. O’Shea
-No Shelter but the Stars by Virginia Black
-This Gilded Abyss by Rebecca Thorne
-Bloomtown series
-Backwards to Oregon by Jae
-Playing With Fire by Heartbr0kenLoverGirl on Wattpad
(Specifically any genre that isn’t romcom or straight up romance)
Basically, stories that aren’t super heavy reads (grammatically/structurally) and have that fanfiction-y feel, while still being entertaining and angsty. I just don’t have the emotional bandwidth right now to read something super heavy that requires a lot of thinking 😂. I’ve tried several sapphic books so it’s becoming difficult to find good ones that I enjoy.

i think i have almost the same taste as you as well as the same issue with not having the emotional bandwidth for heavy stuff. I don’t read often but if you haven’t already tried it, i really enjoyed A Dark and Drowning Tide by Allison Saft! it’s a dark academia vibe high fantasy with an adventure and slow burn enemies to lovers romance :) there are a few heavy themes but imo no more than something more intense like bloom town! the writing is reallyyy pretty without being hard to read or feeling too flowery or anything :) i also really enjoyed the audiobook of it too. i can’t really do romance without a good story around it either tbh.

Those books are mainly fantasy, but there’s some westerns and sci-fi as well. I’ll read any genre, just not romcoms. Sapphic detective fanfiction sounds really cool, definitely something I was hoping for when posting this question. I’ll check it out!

I just checked out the link you provided, I haven’t started the oneshot yet, but are Cagney and Lacey original characters? If so, I love that they have their own tag (with 47 works!). That’s super impressive.

Have you checked out The Blacksea Odyssey? I’m currently almost finished with the second one so I can’t speak to how it ends but so far it’s pretty good
