That's not correct. it's possible for people to learn and change but it requires effort and honesty. Lazy, morons who can't be honest with themselves, however, cannot be fixed.

I think you're talking about the difference between stupid and ignorant.

A person who is merely ignorant is unaware of the facts, and would change their opinion after having been taught.

A stupid person persists in lies, even after being given the truth. They are stupid because they refuse to change their opinion despite reality.

I'm pretty sure there was a study within the last couple of years that suggested otherwise. People don't just change their views, even with facts and evidence. It requires an insane amount of hand holding and guidance, essentially babying the person till they come around.
