Fireworks coming from the Kanata Centrum
Is there a special event, big movie release, or something?

I can’t sleep through noises at night, so I know it only started up this morning. It doesn’t sound like regular construction, no jackhammering etc. but it is LOUD and lasted for a few hours. I walked around outside to find it because it was so loud, and neighbours were asking too. Seems to be coming from far away but MAN is the sound carrying. Wtf is this

It’s 1:45AM and i just heard a loud noise from my open window, i can only assume it was on the 417 which i live very close to near Lees ave. Sounded like a huge crash and then skidding tires for like 5-10 seconds - hopefully everyone is ok.

Started around August 20th, seems to be coming from the Québec side of the Ottawa River. Similar to the 'dinging' that a car makes while the driver door's open, but extremely loud. Fades in and out incessently and I could even hear it walking down St. Laurent towards the complex. First it was only a couple of hours each night between about midnight and 3:30am, but now it's been going non-stop since ~11pm last night (the 30th) and it's almost 9am as I'm typing this (on the "Labour Day" weekend!!). Pretty sure it's some sort of construction crew/site. Absolutely criminal that the city even allows this in the first place.

There were several popping noises around valley stream area around 11:25 pm today. Almost sounded like fireworks, but I couldn’t see any from where I was. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Did anybody else hear that? Really loud rumbling sound (no shaking though)…almost like being behind a passenger jet as it’s taking off. Wasn’t sure if it was a plane as there was nothing on the FR24 app. Possibly an untracked military plane? I’m in the Westgate area and planes aren’t usually that loud here.

Not a complaint, just love hearing the ravens fly downtown with their little radar sounds.
Super fun to watch them fly around Centretown/downtown

Does anyone know where that comes from?

Just heard it about 15 mins ago while walking my dogs. I thought it was thunder, but there was no lightning, and it's not raining. In nepean.

Before the annual (and inevitable) stream of "did anyone else hear that?" posts start rolling in:
Yes, we all heard that.
It's the first night of Les Grand Feux fireworks at Lac Leamy: https://feux.qc.ca/en/home-2025/

Did anyone else hear that? Near Besserer and Chapel at 8:27pm.
It sounded like a single gunshot but honestly I don’t know what gunshots sound like in real life. What else could it have been?

Is it only me, but was last night unbearable for anyone else living near Elgin St.? Loud mufflers, racing vehicles/motorcycles, incessant honking and a variety of horns between 10:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. ?!?
I tolerate music, screaming, yelling very well, but this, this is too much. This is a form of terrorism! I am a wreck today, physically and mentally. Dreading this Saturday night and a possible repeat. Where's the OPS in all this?

Is it just me or does Bluesfest sound particularly loud tonight? I live near the Museum of Nature and it sounds like the band is playing in my living room. I don't want them to play in my living room 😡 Just wondering if anyone else finds the music louder than usual tonight?
Sincerely,
A frazzled centretown resident

did anyone else hear the "air raid" siren yesterday afternoon around 3pm? I am wondering if it is at the airport? It was coming from that direction from my position near bank and conroy rd. very dark low clouds when the siren started up and ran for about 30 secs...

Is anyone else hearing a high-pitched, pulsating sound in Centretown, kind of like a squeaky wheel turning very quickly? It is audible outside throughout my entire block and has been going on all night. Occasionally peters out and then immediately resumes. It seems to be loudest around Metcalfe and Nepean, but who knows with the way the sound bounces off the buildings. It's driving me absolutely up the wall -- would be grateful if anyone knows where it's coming from!

I'm in Kanata near Katimavik and Castle Frank and for the last three weeks there has been a high-pitched non-stop buzzing noise that both my husband and I have been hearing inside of our house. Wondering if anyone else is also running into this issue as well.
We are hearing the noise throughout the entire house, even when the electricity, gas and water are turned off and all batteries are taken out of electrical devices. We are thinking it may be coming from somewhere nearby. Has anyone else run into a similar issue? Any suggestions for determining where the sound is coming from?

Okay I know it was a F/A 18E Super Hornet I'm just wondering why today? It was one jet looping arounding making multiple passes over the east end.

Honking in Centretown. In a mobile group.

Heard a series of booms by the construction site followed by some sirens and now traffic is pretty backed up. I am nosey and want to know more 👀

Update edit: helicopter not a drone—confirmed as the Ornge Air going from North Bay Regional Health Centre to the Ottawa Hospital. Just seemed smaller but the noise makes sense and confirmed using flight radar website.
Just before 1:00am, loud drone (confirmed as helicopter C-GYNZ and not a drone) went up Gloucester. Anyone hear and then see it?

Every 40s or so all night for days. Driving me nuts!
