Travel / Tourism Do I need cash?

I will be visiting Luxembourg for the first time. Yoo hoo! I heard that Germany usually accepts cash only at shops which really stunned me in 2025. How about Luxembourg? I am not sure how much time I will spend in the city but I may go to local shops or something as a tourist. Can I just use a debit card? Another question: Pickpocketing for cash or mobile, how worrying is it when it comes to these kinds of crime?

Luxembourg does not require cash. However it is not very cost affective if you don’t have euros in your credit/debit card account and have to change currency at every transaction

always decline currency conversion on the terminal and pay in the local currency using credit card. Dcc is not-quite-scam. Most credit cards (but not bank cards) have quite good conversion rates with little to no fees attached
