I need to buy a car, preferably used. I've heard that buying in Germany is cheaper for some reason.

Is that true? If so, how bad is the paperwork? I speak no German yet, so I'm concerned that the documents, insurance, etc will be a problem.

It's usually cheaper, yes. Most people speak a bit of English, or some translation app does the trick. Check other posts on the subject for details but the main issue is the transport of the car until the border. You either register it in Germany, or you bring it on a trailer. Or you risk it...
