Of course we can understand elite mindsets (have you ever heard of psychology as a study?), we just can't experience them without actually having an elite mindset.
I'm not saying nobody can, I'm saying a lot of people don't understand that when is fighter says "nah I can beat that guy" after getting destroyed for 5 rounds, or someone like DDP saying I'm going to come back better than ever and win my belt back, that may not be baked in reality a lot of the time, but that's the mindset it takes to stand in a cage and fist fight another elite, often better athlete.
Yeah they're delusional, but that's what it takes to continue in the sport. Like people clowning suga Sean after losing to Chito and not being able to grasp what he meant about he doesn't count that as a loss (but Sean played into it so that's a little different)
Of course I understand it, you NEED that level of self-belief, it's an integral part of what forms a championship mindset. However, we are still free to make fun of those moments where fighters make statements that we find amusing, especially coming off of humiliating losses. :D
