I’m Canadian, and I love both America and Canada.

I do hate our laws though. Can’t even legally defend yourself in Canada. That’s not a joke.

But seriously, would never want to live anywhere other than these two countries.

Who told you you can't defend yourself in Canada? That's completely untrue.

You can't shoot somebody for turning around in your driveway. But of course you can defend yourself.

The Canadian police were telling people to leave their keys near their front door so that when the inevitable home invasion happened, the thieves could more easily take your car.

That doesn’t sound like a nation that has embraced the natural right to self defense. Rather, it sounds like one that empowers criminals and handcuffs (figuratively and literally) the same hard working people who keep the system afloat.

That was an off-the-cuff comment by one officer, not Canadian law or policy.  The Toronto Police Service later clarified that residents should never do this.

It's good to read past the headlines.
