Who told you you can't defend yourself in Canada? That's completely untrue.

You can't shoot somebody for turning around in your driveway. But of course you can defend yourself.

We do not have a law that permits killing someone in self defence.

Not many states do either. In Canada the law says the force must be reasonable and proportional. It's up to a jury to decide whether that is true or not. Juries make these decision in Canada.

I'm sorry, but shooting people is usually proportional because you just can't know their intentions or what they're packing

Well we have jury trials in Canada (and in the United States) so its usually up to the jury to decide that.

But Canadian juries often agree with killing in self defense.
