Five states in the USA exceed $1T in GDP which is absolutely wild when you think about it, especially considering that those five states (CA, FL, IL, TX, NY) total “only” about 110m people in population.
What’s also wild, is those 5 states make up nearly 1/3 of the entire population of the United States. The other 230 million people are in 45 other states.
The fun fact for me is that the average state has a lower population (~7 million) than New York City (8.5 million)… 37 states have less people than New York City
