Suburbs

Post image

I can never get over how American suburbs look like. Every time I walk through one I wonder why they cant be accomplished more around the world. The yards, the safe feeling, and the homes. (I think Chile tried to replicate a bit) I just think it’s one of the beauties America has.

FWIW This is what mid sized cities and first ring suburbs typically look like.

When you hear complaints about suburbs often times they are referring to cul-de-sac based neighborhoods. Generally found in outer ring suburbs.

The Reddit way is to generally complain about exurbs when it comes to description but extrapolate those complaints to anywhere with SFH and decent property size.

One thing I really like about my city is that within a 30 minute bike ride of the city center you have basically every type of housing you could want. Apartments, row homes, small bungalows, mansions, small lots, and large lots. You could live in a century home in a quiet neighborhood with a sprawling yard or an apartment in a lively area where you can be at a restaurant/bar/event within 5 minutes of leaving your house, and both are easily accessible to the rest of the city.
