You had me up until the ‘ a bazooka’ line. He’s in Italy under tremendous heat and he promises random strangers who did nice but inconsequential favours for him to kill for them !? In the 15 years, or so, he spent in Italy he was banned from Rome, under effective house arrest in the 50s.

I can assure you that’s a detail my great uncle and Ray liked to dote on (the bazooka) wether it was a joke Luciano told or wether he was being completely serious is unknown but the story isn’t made up. My great uncle and Ray have no reason to make up stories considering the people the already knew and the more important stories they have.
