I hate that they separated them. Woulda been an amazing side series to see Joe and Vito team up one more time to take down the vinci family and end the mafia 2 loose ends.

Joe the legend turned car chaufer for Leo

As said above, the two bros together are too dangerous, they would have destroyed the mafias

Mot to mention, they just keep fucking up everything.

Everyone deal they do together, something goes wrong. Someone survives to point the finger (the irish in the jewelery store for example. Led to them burning down Vito’s house later) and more families/gangs get dragged into the crossfire (their deal with the chinese and subsequent massacre got Vinci and Falcone into near war with them. And the FBI caught wind of it too).

Vito and Joe are amazing Soldato’s. They will do what they are told if you pay them for it. But they are also not leadership material. They cant plan successfully and don’t pay attention to the after-effects of their actions. Keeping them around for their strengths as soldiers is a smart move. Ut keep them together and they will start edging out again and fucking stuff up.

Keeping them apart is smart. Cruel. But smart. Maybe one day when older, they can reunite. But even by 69, Vito especially is still shown to be hotblooded and impulsive. Him pairing up with an enabler like Hoe again, would just cause trouble for the Mob at large.

Yeah... But a game about an 80 year old Vito and Joe going full Bonnie and Clyde against the Mob would be hilarious.
