Okay just finished it on hard… the game was weirdly easy like all the achievements for the driving was effortless… okayy so I loved the story, I wish it didn’t end the way it did cause I had a soft spot for (****) and felt the whole story was paced really well and had my attention all the way… Isabella was a bit annoying cause he accent sounded hella forced reminded me of Mario but she won me over the more the story went on… and I kinda loved how the game went full circle when it comes to other mafias

I’m genuinely curious… what did you like about this game? Playing it genuinely made me angry with how bad it was. It’s the most disappointing AAA release since Superman 64. I wanted to like it, but it wasn’t good.

Terrible game. Why’d they even bother if it was going to feel rushed and half assed

I wanted to love this game cuz I love the others I even like mafia 3. But this one was a heap of trash.

I grew up on these games and loved their unique style. Anyone disagreeing here hasn’t been around since day one. This newest “game” plays like a demo. Like a test version of what could’ve been.

I have been around since Day One and loved Old Country so it's simply just different people liking different things for different reasons. Mafia 2 had the same issue by the way, but felt even more unfinished during the campaign.

You have to admit it’s the worst of the franchise. Almost like it was designed for a cell phone. Quick missions, loosely dabbling in the cars, none of the awesome period based music, odd map with player guardrails and antiquated “stay in the game area” warnings. Whole thing was rushed. Now we know why it’s $20 less than other games coming out. The skill based charm system and relic collecting was useless, never needed in such a short game. I was truly baffled when it ended when it did, fully expected a part 2 in Empire City.

Why? It was as long as Mafia 2 (as were the levels), I don't see how one would expect to have double the playtime when it was a smaller side entry.
And no, I disagree, Mafia 3 is worse in my eyes (the generic missions between the story beats destroy the pacing and make the game on the whole not interesting enough to me), and I kinda prefer it over 2 as well as I'm not a huge fan of most of the characters, the levels were often even more linear and the plot was undercooked due to the script issues.
Somewhat disagree about the charm system as well, some were very useful like the aiming one.
And I find it odd how anyone would think this is a mobile phone game, those are either very gameplay-centric or idlers, not usually story focused action-adventures.
Agree about the level boundaries being too strict sometimes though, that needs to be improved upon next time, that already was an issue in 1 DE (and one they did not fix).
The music I don't mind too much, it makes sense for the time period and the ochestral score was good and fitting.
All in all I just loved the atmosphere, I felt the characters were more fleshed out than in OG and 2, Sicily was a beautiful backdrop and lots of its culture and history (plus past Mafia influences) were incorporated well. Top-notch voice work as well, and driving and shooting felt good, melee was better than in 2 and DE (In DE especially it was bad to control and unsatisfying)
Only real issue I had (apart from those mission boundary warnings) was that the combat could have had more variety, they leaned too much on the scenery and environmental effects to differentiate just like Mafia 2 did, in general the mission design / variety is still the best in OG and 1 DE, these two areas should get more attention in the next game (and heck, perhaps really let us make some significant decisions in the story).1

And easily the worst writing of the series. The story was frustratingly stupid. I hated it so much that I’m returning it.
