Mafia: The Old Country Aww.. this makes me happy Spoiler

Just finished chapter 6 in TOC, and I’m so glad Enzo and Isabella have finally been able to express their love for one another. Since I’ve played every other game in the series, I’m sure this won’t backfire horribly and leave me hating the characters I’ve grown to really enjoy and appreciate!

IMO it was okay, not as good as 2 or 1 but way better than 3. I also like the new starting screen.

Mafia: The Old Country Playing the final mission of Mafia: The Old Country a slightly different way Spoiler

If you get out of the mining site during the final mission La Merica, you can essentially 'pause' your progression in the mission and roam around the map, most of which is accessible. I ran all the way to Villa Torrisi (took forever), and checked out the Villa on the off chance that other characters might be there. Surprisingly, you can interact with nearly everything, including the garage and stables. Although there is (probably) no way to keep Enzo alive after this section of the mission, you can delay your progression as long as you like, explore the map while its covered with volcanic smoke, and return to the mission anytime.

Layers of smoke and fog cover most of the map and its much more prominent outside of the mines. Some areas have an extremely dense layer of smoke, making it nearly impossible to see anything in front of you, others have a thin layer or none at all. Driving back to the mines was probably the hardest instance of driving I've ever experienced in a Mafia game. Without a mini-map, I was really glad most of the roads had barriers around them😅

Mafia: The Old Country Favorite mission from Mafia: Old Country

What was everyone's favorite mission/chapter from Mafia: Old Country?

Mine was the church assassination mission. Super cool graphics (both the market outside the church and later the rooftop chase) and also avoiding the sniper was quite unique.

What was everyone's favorite mission in the game?

Mafia: The Old Country The only thing I wish they did with Leo in TOC

In Mafia 2 it was said that back in the day Leo Galante was a prize fighter, hence why he was able to teach Vito how how to counter punches. This gave the impression that Leo was a real tough nut in his younger years and I was patiently waiting for this to be represented in The Old Country but to my disappointment, it never came. In TOC, he's portrayed more as a con artist and a mastermind which isn't out of character don't get me wrong, but it would've been nice to see Leo throw some hands as well.

Mafia 2 Mafia 2 is 100% open world

I was really surprised when I started playing mafia 2 that I had the ability to do whatever the hell I wanted between ANY mission, from eating/drinking at cafes and bars, shopping at clothing stores, exploring the world, stealing cars and getting new rims/number plates/sprays and even engine upgrades, all because everything I looked up beforehand was met with “nope it’s not open world, it’s nothing like gta, can’t stray from the missions”. You couldn’t stray during mafia 1 but we had a free roam mode with way less to do than mafia 2. Every review of these games other than the fact that they’re good, has been wrong and a deadass lie. So if you’ve been putting off playing because people told you it was a 12 hour game with no open world I’m here to tell you that’s trash, the game’s world is more filled than gta online and it can last way longer than 12 hours if you utilise all of its open world functions

Discussion Which Mafia game should I play first?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been checking out Mafia: The Old Country and I really like the vibe, but it seems like a lot of people don’t see it the strongest game in the series. I’ve never played any of the Mafia games before and I’m looking to jump in for the first time.

I’ve got a PS1, PS4, and PS5 — which Mafia game would you say is the best starting point?

Mafia: The Old Country Is Mafia Old Country a must play *now*?

Basically I can get Mafia Old Country on PC for £30 if I bought it now, but I was wondering if it's got that wow factor that'd make it worth playing ASAP or if I should leave it for a few months and wait for the price to inevitably come down (as is the case with PC games)

In short, is it "fck me this game's amazing" or is it "this game's good"?

Mafia: The Old Country Easter eggs and real place in Mafia: The Old Country

Hi everyone, I saw that many people were wondering whether the places in Mafia: The Old Country are real or not. As a Sicilian, I can tell you that the game includes many real places that were cleverly combined into the game map.

Collezolfo is the mining village, clearly inspired by Caltanissetta, which at the time was a major center for the sulfur extraction industry. The protagonist begins his story as a miner in one of the many sulfur mines, and during the game, the “carusi” are mentioned — children exploited in the mines, a symbol of the social conditions of that era. The river that runs through the nearby area resembles the real Salso River in both position and features. In one section, it passes under a bridge that is architecturally very similar to the Capodarso Bridge, which in real life also crosses the Salso. In the distance, you can spot a volcano — clearly a tribute to Mount Etna. Porto Almaro is the port area of the map, which blends the atmospheres of Cefalù and Marzamemi, combining architectural and scenic elements typical of both towns. Some locations in the area also reference the salt pans of Marsala and the traditional tuna fisheries of Scopello and Favignana, with detailed attention to everything from fishing techniques to processing structures and workers’ songs. There is also a lookout tower inspired by the real Monterosso Tower in Realmonte, offering a panoramic view of the port on one side and the salt flats on the other.

Valle Dorata refers to Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples. A standing telamon is clearly visible — a real-life Easter egg referencing the one that was raised in 2024 for Agrigento’s celebration as Italian Capital of Culture 2025. The temple architecture is also faithfully recreated: for example, the Temple of Aphrodite in the game closely resembles the real Temple of Concordia, one of the most iconic landmarks of the archaeological site. Along the southern coast of the valley, you can also spot a rock formation that clearly mimics the shape of the Scala dei Turchi. Lake Efeso appears to be mainly inspired by the real Lake Pergusa, located in the province of Enna. It is the only natural lake in Sicily and is historically linked to Greek mythology, particularly the cults of Persephone and Demeter. This symbolic connection may have influenced the developers to place a ruined temple dedicated to Neptune on one of its shores.

Monte dei Quattro Venti is a mountain characterized by striking yellowish rock formations. In terms of geological appearance and location, it seems clearly inspired by the real Monte Sabucina, known for its yellow stone blocks, which have been used since ancient times for buildings and monuments.

Palermo is the setting of an entire chapter in the game. However, the city is not fully explorable; players can only take part in a mission set inside the Teatro Massimo Vittorio Emanuele and the Catacombs of the Capuchins.

Lastly, there are two events that occur in the game which exist in real life but under different names: the "Targa Siragusa" is a reference to the real “Targa Florio” car race, and the “Palio di San Celeste” is inspired by the “Festa dell’Alloro,” which takes place in Gagliano Castelferrato.

I hope this was helpful!

Mafia 2 Mafia 2 Or Mafia 2 Definitive Edition PC - Both Modded Which One Wins?

Ok I've been going down this rabbit hole all day trying to figure out which version to play. I am sure there is going to be a lot of people looking for the same with the recent release of Old Country and the Steam sale going on now.

So I have a pretty beefy computer, AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core Processor and RX 9070xt. I installed both games. For Mafia II I installed the 4GB Patch (located here for anyone in the need https://ntcore.com/4gb-patch/ ) I was going to then add in the Final Cut 1.2 Mod but it sounds like it's extremely buggy and game breaking, and most likely at this point abandoned. (Here for reference https://www.nexusmods.com/mafia2/mods/481 )

The game runs great with everything maxed and my Xbox 360 controller worked out of the box. The only issue was I had to play through Big Picture to have it on my third monitor which was annoying. I played up to chapter 2 then decided to try out Mafia 2 Definitive Edition.

For the DE I installed the Enhanced Edition Mod to fix all the problems in that and add removed content back in. Seems to have good reviews and support. ( https://www.nexusmods.com/mafia2definitiveedition/mods/96 )

Game is also running pretty much flawlessly and also looks better. I'm just not far enough into the game to notice any differences really but I thought I might as well play the DE for the updated graphics, some better text and whatever else they changed. (Also getting the 2k reward unlocks is pretty nifty.)

So I really don't know which one to go with, I guess probably the DE since there is more up to date mods. (I installed the 60 FPS FMV mod and a 3rd person FOV mod so far.)

Mafia: The Old Country Green visual issues on right side of screen.

Hello everyone ! I have been playing mafia the old country since launch and I think I have reached halfway through I guess. Since day 1 I have been having this issue where game would have screen dots on the right side of the screen, It is more noticeble when the background scene is darker and kinda ruines the cutscene experience. The game is amazing so far and I don't want this issue to ruin my end game experience :-D. I have tried everything - Use different uspcaler, disable it in ini. files, change video settings, wait for hotfix/patches , nothing seems to work. Any help would be appreciated.

PC spec -

AMD 9070xt

AMD 9800x3D.

Mafia: The Old Country Wardrobe Changes

Hey Folks,

I love the old country a lot and a good addition to the collection of mafia games. I also felt like it was not open world enough. Did anyone else feel as of there wasn’t enough time in the game to buy weapons or change clothes. A very minor complaint but just a thought.

Mafia 3 Mafia III Platinum Trophy PS4/PS5 Ultimate Guide

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hello everyone I’m an avid trophy hunter and a big fan of the Mafia games. I see in the community a lot of people are having trouble with the Mafia III platinum. Im here to share my knowledge and wisdom to help anyone I possibly can - even if it’s just one person I’ll be glad to have helped someone. I know what it feels like to not be able to get a game you love 100%. Im hoping I can change that for anyone struggling with Mafia III. I’m sure the guide I’m sharing with you would work on XBOX & PC as well but since I did not complete the 100% on either of those platforms I won’t say for sure. Anyway as I’m sure most of you are aware Mafia III is very buggy & certain trophies, specifically trophies with a “counter”, are bugged. The trophies I’m speaking of are as follows.

“Baby You’re a Rich Man” - Earned $500,000

“The New Boss” - Flipped 16 Racket Bosses

“Live Another Day” - Recruit 15 Racket Informants

“No Loose Ends” - Killed all of the Racket Bosses

“Can’t Trust a Rat” - Killed all of the Racket Informants

“Wrecker” - Executed 10 vehicle takedowns

“Combat Specialists” - Killed 300 enemies via takedowns

“Shh, shh” - Performed 100 stealth takedowns on enemies

“Closed Casket” - Performed 50 brutal takedowns

“Flambé” - Made 10 enemies kill themselves with their own molotvs

Pre Setup Ok so to understand why this game bugs out all you need to know is with the 1.12 patch that was implemented the game becomes a little unstable. All counter esque trophies are bugged so anytime the game closes (if you exit to main menu or close the application) or crashes, the counter for trophies resets. For example: if you have 299 takedown kills out of 300 for the trophy “Combat Specialist” and you exit to main menu, close the application, or the game crashes - your counter resets to 0. That simple. Most guides will tell you to downgrade your game to a more stable version (1.09). You do not need to downgrade your game for this to work. I got my platinum entirely on 1.12. Your goal is to avoid closing your game and do your best to avoid game crashes. What I did to make this work is I always completed my playthrough offline for starters. This is very important. Taking yourself off of the 2K servers and playing completely offline helps with a lot of cloud save / lag issues that causes your game to suddenly crash. I tested this theory as well by coming back online and as I did I would crash about a half hour later. Going offline is crucial. Next what I did was minimized my game settings as much as I could. Turn off subtitles, game hints, the mirror & speedometer visiual setting, etc. Anything you don’t need turn as low as possible or off altogether. This puts less stress on the game which in turn helps the game not crash. Also I recommend always using your slow motion ability when available I.e. when shooting enemies and when taking corners fast with a vehicle. Speaking of vehicles - DO NOT drive recklessly. Drive slower than normal and avoid crashing into things. Vehicle crashes can cause the game to crash…LITERALLY. Another key tip - sometimes you will encounter a camera glitch once you are done taking over a racket. It will show a panned out camera (you won’t see Lincoln in third person) - just your mini map and wherever the camera is focused. If you encounter this glitch don’t waste any time. Hit pause and load checkpoint. I do this one purely out of superstition but, I like to take my time when interacting with NPC’s. Don’t just run up to them and press square or circle when prompted. Give the game a minute to register and let the NPC finish their dialogue. Speaking of dialogue I skipped every cutscene when I went for the flip / kill playthrough and it didn’t affect me none - in fact I think it helped me more. Besides those tips the obvious is DO NOT exit to main menu for any reason and DO NOT close your application - you can put your PlayStation in rest mode if you need a break. I’ve tested it and it the trophy progress still counts as long as the game wasn’t closed. When you turn your system back on you may receive a message telling you the licenses cannot be verified. Don’t panic and DO NOT close the game - just go back online so you can sign in to PSN. The game should allow you to load back in. As soon as you’re loaded back in make sure you disconnect from the internet again. It will not close the game on its own just because it can’t verify the license. This is all you need to know for the setup. I did this and completed my flip / kill runs back to back without any crashes happening.

Step 1. I recommend playing the game for fun the first time around enjoying the story and completing all the side missions. By doing this you’ll unlock all story / side mission related trophies. While completing this playthrough I recommend going for all of the kill counter trophies. The more you get out of the way on this playthrough is the less you have to worry about when doing the flip / kill trophies. For those playthroughs you’ll want to focus on getting them done as fast as possible. I also recommend going for the “Baby You’re a Rich Man” trophy as well. You’ll want to clear out every racket location to get the most money possible. This means interrogating all racket informants and visiting all racket POI’s. By doing this you should get $500,000. Now, you can absolutely go for a flip or kill run on this playthrough to save yourself from doing an additional playthrough, it’s entirely up to you. I only split mine up just to be safe. Just remember if you’re going for a flip playthrough, always wiretap the junction box in the area where the racket boss is located. You DO NOT need to wiretap the entire district. You can wiretap at any point before you confront them. If you’re going for your kill run, you do not need to wiretap the area. I have counted a total of 20 informants but you only need 15 in order to unlock the trophies related to flipping / killing them. That means you have a margin of error of 5 mistakes. Regarding bosses, you do not have any margin of error, you either need to flip or kill them all. There are 18 in total but two of them can't be flipped (Merle Jackson - Prostitution and Chester Moreau - Southern Union). You have to flip or kill the 16 others racket bosses. Any mistakes and you’ll have to start all over. A good tip to know is when going for the flip run, you don’t even need to bother going after “Chester Moreau”. He’s one of the racket bosses in Frisco Fields - Southern Union Racket. You can skip him entirely on the flip run since he doesn’t count toward the 16 racket bosses needed to be flipped. When going for flip / kill runs make sure you’re splitting the districts evenly among Vito, Cassandra, & Burke - In that order too. You only have to do the lieutenant missions for “Enzo Conti”, “Tony Derazio”, & “Frank Pagani” since those will unlock the last three districts allowing you to complete the last of the rackets needed in Southdowns, French Ward, & Frisco Fields.

Step 2. Now that all the story, side mission, counter trophies are out of the way it’s time to focus on the remaining trophies related to racket informants / racket bosses. If during “Step 1” you completed a flip or kill run then you only have to worry about one last playthrough. Depending on which run you chose - either flip or kill you’ll now want to focus on the other run. Remember the important information listed in “Pre Setup” & “Step 1” To avoid messing up.

Step 3. If you were lucky enough to complete your flip / kill playthroughs without exiting the game or the game crashing then congratulations!!! You made it!!! Now all that should be left is a few miscellaneous trophies. I finished the game with my last trophy “Next Time Swim Faster” where I got eaten by an alligator.

Sorry for the long post - I wanted to be as thorough as possible. If anyone is going for the Mafia III platinum and has any questions or is confused feel free to comment or message me and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. GOOD LUCK & HAPPY HUNTING!!!
