Just some minor changes, but as per usual, we like to notify you all when the rules are tweaked.
Added "No Community Interference" to Rule 1. This means, do not attempt to interfere with the operation of this sub or the automated moderation we have set up. Trying to bypass Thread Title word filters by changing spelling in order to get a banned post-type to post is becoming more common. Doing this will result in a 7 day ban. If you have a problem with a Moderator action, we are ALWAYS open to discussing it, because we know we get things wrong sometimes. Some users here can attest to how we are willing to admit mistakes and reverse decisions - you just have to give us the chance. Attacking us in modmail immediately will never work.
Clarified Rule 4 about Low Effort, Shit Posts or Trolling. Low Effort posts are when you put in the minimum effort to make a post. For instance, "What's your favorite song?" with an image of an album cover, and nothing else. Not only does this question get asked all the time already, but you didn't even make the effort to give your answer and/or elaborate on WHY its your favorite song. This sub isn't a dumping ground for your random thoughts and questions, so please put in some effort to start and engage in conversations. Shit posts and trolling are never allowed, but Meme Monday lowers posting standards considerably... however we will still remove blatant trolls and shit posts (unless they're really funny).
Clarified the restriction on "unpopular opinions". Obviously, you can have any opinion you want. We don't care. What we DO care about is how people keep posting the same "DAE think St. Anger is underrated?" all the time. RARELY does anyone have anything new to say about it, so in general, we have banned these types of posts. If you think you do truly have a unique opinion, feel free to share it... but if it's something that's been posted weekly for years, it'll probably get removed.
Stay On Topic - This rule hasn't been modified, but since we're all here, I figure it's a good opportunity to reinforce it - This is a METALLICA sub. Not a Megadeth sub, not an Ozzy sub. Obviously, when something monumental happens in the metal world such as the passing of Ozzy Osbourne, we're going to make an exception for discussion for a period of time. But in general, if your posts are not DIRECTLY relevant to Metallica - the analogy I use is we want to talk about your mom and dad, not your aunt and uncle - then we will remove them. If Metallica is loosely correlated to your post ("this celebrity did something bad in this photo and there's a Metallica shirt in the background"), your post will be removed.
Thanks!

So when my wife was pregnant with our son 11 years ago, a good buddy of mine would put his phone on my wife's belly playing Metallica songs. Today, Metallica is my son's favorite band. Him and I seeing Metallica for the first time together in Denver a couple months ago was one of the greatest moments I've shared with him.

Just to think that we are nearing the end of 2025. Just around the corner will be 2026, which will mean only 5 more years until their 50th anniversary. Do you think they would be up for doing a 50th show? I would imagine by that point they would have slowed way down, but having a celebration of playing music for 50 years is a pretty big deal.

Hi guys! I’m new here but I’ve been a fan of Metallica for years. Just today I finally got the tattoo I’ve been wanting since I saw it the first time. Someone tell Papa Het we are matching

I found this photo of the Electra V with that white binding on the neck, who got my attention.
Anyone knows more about it? Did he replaced the neck at the time? Because all other photos of that guitar doesn’t have the binding.

I know they obviously got very high quality stuff so I was wandering if there was a specific pedal/amp that might do it for now, at least before I save enough to get a better one, if y’all have also any suggestions for what to save up for; I know they used Marshall back in times and now Mesa-Boogie, maybe some recommendations would really help me!
But before getting a probably expensive one, I’d like to use something more accessible, I know many people love this pedal so I’d like to hear what y’all think. I also was wondering about wah pedal but - since I’m a beginner and not very familiar with this stuff - I guess I need an amp with good gain, so I might think about it after. Thanks to whoever read this, have a nice day/night

I think it’s a pretty safe bet that we wouldn’t have had Load and Reload as they were… But do you think they still would’ve had the Black Album propelling them into international stars and pushing them to conform to a more “alternative” style as a way to stay popular, or would Cliff’s presence and influence keep them on a more metal route, a la 90’s Slayer and Testament?
I’m really interested to hear everyone’s thoughts.

My top 5 are:
Fade to Black
Welcome Home Sanitarium
Blackened
The Unforgiven
All Nightmare Long
And Room Of Mirrors gets a mention as well....
They all have multiple layers that transform their songs really well so it's tough to choose one.
But my all time favorite has to be All Nightmare Long.

I'm pretty sure it's a Metallica solo or a similar band and it starts very similar to the solo from ride the lightning after that first tremolo.

Would a sign with a very creepy Frankenstein asking for picks actually make Kirk notice? I know about his horror passion as I myself am in love with that stuff lol. Don’t wanna bother him like probably many but he’s actually one of my biggest models and it’d be a treasure to have a guitar pick used by him (as a guitar player, it’s one of the few things that I actually value a lot).
I’m not the type of person who cares about the “souvenirs” and I’m not even someone who would join a fight to get a pick directly from him. I’m actually a very quiet person and want to enjoy my time there without having fights (I hope), if he handled a pick himself I’d obviously take it but ain’t no way imma fight with others to get the ones on the grounds when I can buy them myself. It’s not worth that much since they get those for the crowd.
Also the language barrier scares me even more since I might blow up and have no idea what to reply to anyone if asking me something. I know English pretty well but when it’s a speaking thing I’m not confident and get awkward. “Where’s the bathroom?” “Shooma Uhhuuula gonda” basically. Thanks for giving me attention, have a nice day/night
