This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest from Monaco, with a strong focus on sport, the sea, and summer challenges across the Principality.
Team Malizia kicked things off with a hard-fought second place in the opening leg of The Ocean Race Europe 2025 on August 15. Skipper Boris Herrmann and his Monaco-backed crew finished just behind Biotherm after an intense duel with Paprec Arkéa, crossing the line off White Island in dramatic fashion.
At Stade Louis-II, AS Monaco FC is celebrating its return to the Champions League with a unique exhibition of historic jerseys. The display traces iconic European Cup moments from 1978 to 2025, with each shirt marking a chapter in the club’s continental story.
Meanwhile, Swiss endurance swimmer Noam Yaron came agonisingly close to completing a record-breaking 180km swim from Calvi to Monaco. After spending 100 hours at sea, he was pulled out just two kilometres from the finish line on August 16 due to extreme fatigue.
Off the coast, Riviera Navigation continues to delight locals and visitors alike with marine excursions into the Pelagos Sanctuary. Every Wednesday and Saturday, guests can spot dolphins and whales in the wild, just minutes from Monaco’s shoreline.
Back on land, Monaco’s Mobility Management Centre is tackling peak summer traffic, which now reaches up to 119,000 vehicles a day. With 24/7 monitoring across the 52km network, teams respond instantly to breakdowns, tunnel stoppages and pedestrian hazards to keep the city moving.
The summer heat has also pushed firefighters to their limits. July and August see around 1,000 interventions per month, with more than 85 percent linked to medical assistance. Heatwaves, storms and heightened fire risks are stretching crews to full operational capacity.
On the football front, AS Monaco secured their 1,100th Ligue 1 victory with a 3-1 win over Le Havre, played under intense 30°C heat and witnessed by Prince Albert II and club president Dmitry Rybolovlev.
This week’s special guest is Morris Pagniello, Monaco United. In our exclusive interview, he shares insights into developing young football talent, the growing importance of grassroots programmes, and Monaco’s role in shaping the future of the sport.
