Est-ce facile de trouver un poste de techologue à l'imagerie médicale même s'il y a eu des coupures par le gouvernement dans le domaine de la santé? Il y a 160 élèves dans mon programme, additionnés à ceux et celles des autres écoles, alors comment pourrait-it avoir autant de postes ouverts pour tous ces élèves en même temps? Le salaire des technologue est plutôt bas également (50 000 à l'entrée), je ne suis pas sûre si je veux continuer dans cette direction. Je regarde discrètement et je le vois tourner et roder autour de ma voiture. Il était seul mais parlait au téléphone et semblait attendre quelqu’un. Nous venons d'emménager à Montréal il y a quelques mois. Nous venions d'une petite ville de région à la base, très tranquille.

Nous sommes dans un demi sous-sol et hier, vers minuit/1h du matin, quelqu'un s'est mis à cogner agressivement dans nos fenêtres, plus d'une fois. Plusieurs portes nous séparent de l'extérieur, mais disons que c'était suffisant pour nous faire peur ; nous avons ignoré les coups jusqu'à ce que la personne s'en aille.

Est-ce quelque chose qui vous est déjà arrivé? Devons-nous nous inquiéter et/ou nous attendre à ce que ce soit quelque chose de récurrent?

I recently tried to sell a hand-knotted rug to a retailer. I walked into a rug store that was full of rugs from different countries, mostly from the Middle East. I wanted to ask the owner if he might be interested in hand-knotted rugs from Afghanistan.

After greeting him, he immediately started asking me very direct questions. I explained that I was importing rugs from Afghanistan and asked if he had customers for them. I admitted I wasn’t familiar with retail pricing and gave him my offer, hoping to hear his counteroffer.

But before even discussing numbers, he suddenly became rude. He said things like: “If you were in my country, I would throw you out of my store,” and “My rugs are better than any rugs—how dare you suggest this price?”

I was shocked. I just stayed quiet and realized this was how he treated people. I’m not sure exactly where he was from, but he had a Middle Eastern/Arabic accent. Regardless, I thought this kind of customer service was very unprofessional, especially here. I still don’t understand why he reacted that way, but it left me with a very negative impression.
