🥚 Easter Egg In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), one of the chambers that the candy dragonboat passes through is labeled "Beetle Juicing". This references another movie Tim Burton also directed, Beetlejuice (1988).

That's funny because they really do grind up a certain beetle to make a dye that is in some candy.

Yes, ground up Dactylopius Coccus insects create the red food coloring we call cochineal.

They also use shellac to coat candies which is an insect secretion

You've got to get your red dye from somewhere, and that Wonka is definitely not one to outsource cruelty.

this movie still creeps me out. Depp totally overstepped the line between eccentric and downright weird.

Don't reference a better movie in your movie.

I'll be sure to pass that along to Tim.

That’s a bit difficult when you’re already remaking a classic movie.

To be fair, it's an adaptation of the original book instead of the movie

Thanks for letting us know what the other Burton movie was that it referenced. 🤦‍♂️🤪🤔
