At 53y old, ex-Ferrari F1 star Rubens Barrichello is the champion of Nascar Brasil "Brazilian Championship". WIth that he will be present in the Nascar Awards in Charlotte, will he got the "Overall Championship" to put his name in the NASCAR Hall of fame?
After an touch with Thiago Camilo in lap 1, Rubens leaded the whole race and was crowned Nascar Brasil "Brazilian Champion", now he leads the standings to the Overall Championship with 3 rounds left, one of them being race in Curvelo Oval.

Honestly love seeing this. He always seemed to get the short end of the stick in F1. Hopefully we get to see a video of his acceptance speech. If he has one heh

His carrer both in F1 and after F1 shows how he is one of the best drivers out there, Driving 5 years in Ferrari with Schumacher at his side is nothing to be ignored, im so glad he got to gain more respect as time pass after his F1 reitrement

As dumb as it sounds I hope he is having fun and enjoying himself. With all the scrutiny in F1 especially the teams he was on, I can’t imagine you really have time to slow down and enjoy yourself

For sure he is living his best life, he see how he is happy driving the Nascar Brasil cars because he likes a lot the handling of them, and said he did move to the series because he believe the future of the series when the CEO Thiago Marques showed the new car project. If someone with Rubens caliber believes on it, Nascar Brasil is going in the right direction.

I dont think short end of the stick is fair, he just had better teammates which in a sport like F1 is brutal. 2009 he did have the chassis issue but he wasnt faster than button anyway.

Yeah exactly. It's not that he's a victim. If he was faster, he would've gotten prioritized.

I met him when I got wind he was doing an IndyCar test in Sonoma ahead of the 2012 season for KV.
He was in a white suit, not even a Brawn one, and I was still shaking. What an honor to meet him, and what a wonderful man.
I still root for him, and I love seeing him find success.

I will try to go to the last round in Interlagos in December just to have a chance to see him racing. Rubens is one of those drivers who live and breathe motorsport, the day he finally retire from it will leave a lot of fans sad. So awesome to hear you had the chance to met him.

I bet he will retire only when his body "says" enough, I bet he will keep going until his late 60s

Rubinho is a living legend, much maligned by his own brazilian "fans", who couldn't understand back then that he wasn't a Senna substitute, as no one was, but soldiered on for 326 F1 Races, twice runner up as F1 Champion, twice 3rd place in the drivers championship, 15 Indycar races (I really wanted him to stay there), then two championships at the crap but highly competitive Brazilian Stock Car series, and now, at 53, a champion at Nascar Brasil.
For all the foreigners that do not follow Rubinho any longer, he has a Youtube channel called "Acelerados" where he "tests" cars around a very short track. He has done so for over 500 cars over the past 10 years.
Rubinho is the ultimate car enthusiast.
