Mod Weekly thread where you can call the music recognition bots without posting

To use the bots put u/RecognizeSong u/find-song with the link in your comment, like:

u/RecognizeSong u/find-song https://youtu.be/12345abcde

Notes:

  • The bots only work with a recording of the actual song, not a humming/recreation.
  • The sites that find-song works with: Reddit video posts (with a link or when summoned on the original post), YouTube, Vocaroo, Streamable, Twitch Clips (not VODs)
  • Some of the sites that RecognizeSong works with: Reddit video posts (when summoned on the original post or with an audio link if you're able to get it, like https://v.redd.it/12345/DASH_audio.mp4), YouTube (though sometimes it doesn't work), Vocaroo, Streamable, Imgur, Twitch Clips (not VODs), Facebook, Twitter, Coub, Dropbox, Snapchat
  • For Reddit video posts there's also u/songfinderbot which only works if you summon it in a top-level comment on the original post
  • Some sites that RecognizeSong doesn't work with: Instagram, Twitch VODs, SoundCloud, Google Drive, Reddit text posts with embedded videos (though it does work with the audio link if you're able to get it, like https://v.redd.it/12345/DASH_audio.mp4)
  • When needed, mention a timestamp or use a timestamped link if possible (the bots scan about 24-30 seconds of audio, starting at the timestamp)
  • If the song is from a meme or from TikTok then it might be listed in the FAQ
  • Note that you can also DM find-song a link (but not through chat)

Good luck with your search, and if you find the bots useful please consider supporting them: RecognizeSong through Patreon, find-song through Ko-fi

Rock Piano intro to a most likely old song (I’m guessing 70s-80s?)

I know it’s most likely a rock song too but the intro was definitely mellow. it might be mistaken for something like “you can’t always get what you want” but I assure you I’ve already listened and the intro is not the same :// please help! thank you

Answered! Song with chorus that ends with "never gonna back never gonna back down" or something like that

Male artist. Not sure if it's a band or solo. Pop music, upbeat, with chorus that rolls off the tongue. It's most likely in the 2010's-now.

The end of the chorus goes like: never gonna back, never gonna back down or something that sounds like that (as in "gonna" is probably "going" or "down" is probably "now").

it is definitely NOT:

  • Back Down - Bob Moses
  • Never Gonna Come Back Down - BT
  • Never Let You Go - Third Eye Blind
  • Come Back Down - Flatland Cavalry
  • Best Day of My Life - American Authors
  • Never Gonna Be Alone - Nickelback
  • Never Go Back - Dennis Lloyd
  • Never Going Back - The Score
  • Never Going Back - Brothers

Thanks

Pop Help me find an indie pop artists who stylizes her name in all caps

Upvotes

I can’t remember the name of an artist who’s album I listened to a while ago and didn’t save it to my Spotify :(

The album came out in 2020-2022, she’s an indie pop artists and stylized her name (first and last) in all caps, and iirc the album was also stylized in call caps as well.

Jazz Found this tape in a garage sale

Post image
2 Upvotes

Found this tape called Alcedo in a garage sale. It's french jazz (my friends and i are french) by Christophe Cravero (keyboards and violin), Michel Iozzia (basses), Laurent Teissedou (drums) and Philippe Delage (guitars). Couldn't find any info about this specific album anywhere so I wondered if anyone knew about it, where it comes from, when it was done, why it ain't available anywhere, why I can't find any info about it, you know, all that stuff. Thanks!

Pop Pop song by woman

Upvotes

I can’t figure out what this song is for the life of me, but I’ve heard it a couple times in the last week. It’s a pop song by a woman. The voice recording is far from perfect but hopefully captures the general gist of it.

Techno Techno track from 999999999 b2b Hiroko Yamamura set at Echostage

Upvotes

I recently went to Echostage and listened to 999999999 and Hiroko Yamamura’s set. During it, this track absolutely blew me away, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere, even after trying to use Shazam.

I attached a video clip I recorded at the show that has the track playing. I appreciate any help. Been going crazy trying to find this song.

Instrumental Chappelle's Show Skit - Pancakes

Upvotes

This is a long shot but during the skit for the Prince True Hollywood Story, there's a little instrumental riff that plays at a certain point that I'm looking for. It's right after Charlie Murphy says "this cat can ball, man," and the basketball game starts. I'm guessing it is some copyright free music for TV but if anyone can recognize it I'd be very pleased. Thanks in advance.

Answered! Please help me identify this 80's pop song

Upvotes

I have a recording I made of it. I believe the song is from around 1980–1984. Because of the poor quality of the recording (and English not being my first language), I’m having trouble understanding the lyrics. I’d love to know the name of the song and the artist.

I’ve attached the full recording (3:16), and I think the chorus starts at 0:37. Thanks so much for any help!

Rock Rock song that says "I have 500(?) mattresses so you can sleep tonight". Maybe 90-2000's? Sounds like She Wants Revenge but isn't

Upvotes

Anyone know a song that says "I have (500?) mattresses where you can sleep tonight" song? The number may be different. I want to say the singer sounds like She Wants Revenge. I cannot find the song for the life of me. TIA!

Rock 90’s- early 2000’s punk rock song with relationship info behind it

Upvotes

I heard this song on tik tok and l've had it stuck in my head. It's definitely a punk rock sound. My best way to describe the melody is "ah ah ah ah ahaha" with the note change in the "ahaha". And it's definitely using a guitar riff with drums. The crazy thing is I know the "lore" behind the song. From what I can remember it's a band, with one band member who was dating another singer/artist that isn't in the band but rather a duo with another woman. But he either called her specifically for a melody or he recorded her while singing the melody. They've since have broken up I believe.

Answered! Late 90's / Early 00's Dance Song UK

Help! I'm trying to remember a single, I think from the late 90's early 00's.

I remember it was a dance track. I think it did pretty well in the UK charts. I seem to remember it being played a fair bit on the radio.

I seem to remember the artist name of Jax, but searching that brings back nothing at all. (It's not Basement Jaxx)

I vaguely remember the singles cover had an image of a slim black woman I think with a shaved head in an unusual pose. She might have been wearing something black, skin tight. I also remember it having autumnal colours but I don't remember the environment she was in.

I can't remember any vocals from the song but it did contain some female vocals.

Acoustic Help ID 2010s Christmas song from 101.9 Lite FM (Baltimore) – acoustic “For Unto Us a Child Is Born”

Upvotes

Hi everyone — this has been driving me crazy for years. In the 2000s - 2010s, Baltimore’s 101.9 Lite FM and others used to play a Christmas song that I haven’t been able to track down. It’s based on Handel’s Messiah chorus “For unto us a child is born.”

Details:

  • Male vocalist with only acoustic guitar accompaniment.
  • Backup singer (just one or two people, not a choir) comes in exactly at “For unto us, a child is born, unto us a son is given.”
  • Very stripped-down, folky/indie sound — not orchestral or choral.
  • Aired during WLIF’s all-Christmas programming in the 2000s - 2010s

Does anyone remember this version or know the artist? I’d give anything to finally figure this out.

Thanks so much!

Rock I can’t find this song or band. It was called “Can’t stop me” or “Can’t kill me” or something along the lines and the band had “Six” in it

Upvotes

I think it was rock. But I’m trying to remember any words in the title. Unfortunately I was signed out of my YouTube at the time and it was a “Topic” song.

Rap Rap Song by a British Female, probably very recent. Lyrics: "Juicy"

Upvotes

There is a rap song by (what sounds like) a British Female. I've heard it on the radio a few times recently, so it's either a recent release or it's gained popularity recently. I swear the chorus keeps repeating "Juicy" but no luck when I search for that.

Other lyrics I vaguely remember are her rapping about going to school and numbers, I think the brand "Fenty", and she says something like "I don't even know though". Again, no luck when searching for these lyrics.
