Doorbell Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) keeps doing this recently

Post image

I've been using it in wired mode for nearly four years, and recently it keeps showing this error. I usually have to hit "Retry" a few times before it starts working again. I’ve already tried removing the doorbell and setting it up from scratch, but the issue keeps coming back. Is it beyond repair, or has anyone with the same problem found a fix?

There is a small battery in the doorbell that takes over to power the camera when the doorbell button is pushed (because the voltage from the wire is temporarily energizing the actual bell). That internal battery seems to have a life of about 4 years. When it goes, the camera will die when the doorbell button is pushed and a second push does nothing. Oneof mine had this issue and I cracked the case and replaced the battery but one of the camera ribbon cables was damaged in the process and now the video from that unit is half magenta. Still works, though. eBay…..

I see. Would be a waste to replace it with a new one if it's just a degraded internal battery. Will give it a go when I find the time. Thanks!

I had to replace the battery inside a few months ago....works good as new again after that.

All my cameras decided to go offline a few days ago. Other devices were working fine. Last night after multiple resets and reboots I decided to factory reset my internet. What a difference today. Strong steady connections for almost 24 hours today. Wired 2nd gen doorbell, floodlight cam, two battery cameras.

Edit: just to clarify, I factory reset the internet, created a new ssid (wanted to rename for a while) and deleted/readded all devices to the home app under the new ssid.
