Ni no Kuni 1 spoiler Glitch(?) During Final Boss Spoiler

This was the second time this happened to me during the fight. I’m defending and telling my entire team to defend but when the attach cutscene begins none of us are defending. This is extremely frustrating considering this is the third boss you have to fight in succession and having to start this whole like 30 minute sequence over completely ruins all the momentum of the ending sequence. Any idea what’s going on here? Is this a glitch or what?

The issue that was happening for me was that the cutscene lasted so long that Oliver would stop blocking during the cutscene because for some reason in chaos specifically they dont pause the defense timer :(

One way around this is to bring a familiar with a high mag def and instead of blocking just swap to the familiar with high mag def. I generally found better traction from doing this over using the defend ability most of the game.

I had the same problem and it meant I had to be on max health every single time because even getting hit once could risk everything…

It’s been about 2 years since I decided to “have a break” from that frustrating boss fight.
