Who should I evolve? Ds version

Post image

I have this possible 5 characters, and the game is making me choose at least one to continue (I can't click B) I've read that you should only evolve them once they have unlocked all their trucks at least, but how do I know if they have any left to unlock for their current evolution? Is there any website I can check? Thanks

Yes, it came out in japan, but there is an English and Spanish patch available

Whoa, how do you apply the patch?

If you search on Google "ni no kuni English patch ds" a gba temp website will pop up. That's the guide. Depending on which cartridge you want to install it you will need a different patch. I installed it directly into twilight menu on the 3ds. I could send you mine, since it took a couple tries to get all the files I needed for this version.

Here you go! I have uploaded the english and spanish ds game versions ready to play. Just copy and paste de .nds version into the roms folder were your twilight menu reads from (I am using a new 3ds xl, but any 3ds should work), in my case is roms/dsiware/ Appart from that I have uploaded my save file, in case you would like to start midway, I also have the DLC available in my .sav file. I haven't found any errors in my english copy, but a known error is when you try to exange your coins for prizes in the casino. How to solve that? Just change the name of your save file to the spanish or japanese version nds version. To do that oben FBI, SD, enter were you have your saves and click "select" and then "rename" Change it to the name of the spanish .nds version, in my case I need to change the word "ENGLISH" to "ESPAÑOL" and open the spanish version of the game. With that you will have the game in spanish but with your english save. Exange the coins for prizes, save, and go back to rename the file to "ENGLISH" instead of "ESPAÑOL" ofc you can just change the name of the games to whatever suits you best, but to work the .nds needs to have the same name as the .sav

If it appears black at the beggining tap on the screen once or press A, that should start the game. If it doesn't , you might need a different patch, as to which patch I used? Can't even remeber, I made a mix and kept trying different ones until this one worked. If you want the dlc but want to start at the beggining you will need to download the save someone posted on gba temp, that starts from the beggining. If you don't mind having the different tickets or extra missions just play from scratch, no need to download any .sav Have fun playing the game :) There are a couple cities that are not available in the remaster, a different secret boss, different mosters, and the characters from what I have read actually have more backstory and dialogue, apparently in the remaster they used "flashbacks" instead of playing those parts from what I gathered.

Your welcome! That makes me happy, at least my two hours trying to get it to work got to be useful for someone else apart from myself ;) Btw I didn't include the pdf of the Wizard's Companion in English that you will need to play, since in this version they ask you to draw the runes and make you check for clues in the book, but you can find it in the gba temp I mentioned. The book is different to the one in the remaster in some points so you will need to download the fan translated one that comes inside the zip of the tread in the gba temp.

That's hilarious to me. The DS Version is the original. I remember when it came out being bummed that only Japan gets the Ghibli game (ofc). Then the PS3 Version was announced as an updated rerelease, and I was so excited. Lmao.

Yes, and it also requires you to refer to your ACTUAL spellbook in order to cast spells.

The DS is the original version and it's auite different from the main game. I would even say some part of the DS are better for the story/plot. Especially the part in the remake version for the quest of finding the 3 stones. One stone is available quite quickly on the overworld map (ghost ship), while the other one are in dungeons. In the DS version for finding this one you need to infiltrate a pirate cave (dungeon). However, the DS version end right after the fight with Shadar. There is no White Witch in this version.

Yeah but it only has like half the amount of the console version

Don't stress about getting them to their max level. It's only 10% of that maxing out that is carried to the next form.

I'm concerned about the tricks I mean. Cause for example someone said that x skill only appears at level 18 before you evolve y character. So I don't want to evolve Mite that I have on the level 16 if for example it will be able to unlock a useful trick at level 17. But I don't know when tricks unlock or where to search for that info

Pd: Meant to say tricks not trucks, but I can't edit the post :)

u/Merdrago Jul 12 '25

No need to worry on Mite, you will abandon him soon. But yeah, always try to max out before evolving.

u/ZairaQF Jul 12 '25

What's the max level I should reach before evolving? 30? 45? 50?

It's Ni no kuni, the ds version. The ds is the original version. You can play it in english or Spanish, I don't think there's an Italian translation
