Travel I'm thinking about visiting Svalbard in the middle of October but most activities I've seen don't start till later in the year, will there be much to do/see?

Any advice from locals or people who have visited would be awesome

I mean, Longyearbyen itself is an experience, and there are lots of activities (https://visitsvalbard.travelize24.com/bestilling-widget ). It might not be the most interesting season (no midnight sun and no full on winter). But if it is then you have time, why not.

Not enough snow for winter activities (snowmobile, dogs sledding, ski-touring. Maybe Northern lights if your lucky, since it is dark enough. No boats, too dark. Museum, husky café, mine, walking within town limits.
