Travel gryllefjord to andenes ferry advice
Hi! I’m traveling to lofoten in early September and I wondered what’s the ferry like at the 2nd of September. I heard terrible things about it and wondered what it’s like not in peak season…
Edit: should I worry about being able to get on it this time of year? How much time in advance should I arrive?

Looks ok enough? A smidgen chilly maybe, but I thrive at 30 c +.

What about it being full? Should I arrive many hours in advance or will it be fine if I arrive like and hour before?

Hours in advance. Like 5ish hours to maybe be safe? I went during non-peak tourism season, on a random Wednesday the first week of June, arrived 4 hours early and the queue was already in the overflow. I luckily made it on as one of the last overflow cars - but only because I have a tiny car. They skipped all larger vehicles in the overflow lane and only pulled out the tiny cars to get on. The people in the lanes guaranteed to get on were all there from overflow of the morning ferry. I've taken this ferry 2 times from Gryllefjord and honestly I won't take it again. The amount of time you have to dedicate to get there early, and the stress of not making it on, it's just significantly faster to drive the whole way. I've heard it's a lot better the opposite direction, taking it from Andenes to Gryllefjord.
