Hi, I'm travelling from Italy. On Wednesday, I'm planning to hike from Ulriken to Fløyen, passing by Øvre Jordalsvatnet and Skomakerdiket.

Unfortunately, my waterproof shoes and raincoat have decided not to cooperate (yes, I forgot to test them before taking the flight, but they were fine last year), so I am looking for replacements. Can you suggest any good stores or models?

The temperature is not a problem; I thought it was going to be colder, but I hate having wet feet.

I have already applied an idrofobic spray daily in the past days, which is usually enough for the Italian rain, but not for yours!

EDIT: other solutions are welcomed too, hiking on brand new shoes could not be the optimal solution but I have plenty of tape, and I think that my shoes have a little hole, so water will get in. I read that a double sock setup with a plastic bag in the middle is popular over here 🤯, last resort may be that one

I’m traveling to Norway next week and need to take the train from Oslo to Bergen. When I try to book through the Eurail Planner app, it only shows paper tickets as available, which need to be physically delivered.

I checked Entur and VY, but their tickets are much more expensive compared to what Eurail shows.

Am I doing something wrong here? Is there a way to get digital/online tickets for this route using Eurail, or do I have to go with the pricier Entur/VY options?

I'll be taking a train from Oslo to Bergen to catch a flight from Bergen. It'll be a sleeper train and I should have about six hours time buffer to get to the Bergen airport. Is that enough of a buffer? Are these trains known to be cancelled/delayed? I heard something from a coworker in Norway that suggested this could be the case.

So I just wanted to make sure when I visit Norway this winter I could view the Northern lights a few people told me to visit Finnmark I even found a company called Pæskatun in Alta that will take to where you can view the Northern lights but the problem when booking to join i have to at least to book for two people I can't book for one person even tho I'll be with strangers on the trip and when I did a little bit of Googling it says Tromsø is the best place to view the Northern lights and when I've searched for hotels and other places to stay some of them a picture of the Northern lights so I don't know which is better, should I go for Tromsø or should I go for Alta?

Traveled in Late June to do a clockwise Trollheimen Signatur. Started at Gjevilvasshytta and soon found myself in hail/wind storm on way over Riaren. Decided to camp out for a bit and then decided to bail at Bardsgarden. Came back this past week to finish and was able to complete a great hike. Got roasted plenty by locals I met in the huts for even attempting the June trip. First six pics are Aug/June comparisons. Will do much better weather research next time.

I’m a bit worried about my two kids (ages 2 and 5). They’re currently in a small barnehage with around 9 kids in total. Compared to the bigger barnehager, this feels very few.

I’ve been hearing stories that children who come from very small groups sometimes struggle socially when starting 1st grade—things like not having an established group to play with, or even ending up playing alone. And how does this translate further down the line (on the higher grades levels)

To parents and teachers who have experience:

• Does being in a larger group in barnehage help kids “find their place” more easily in 1st grade and further down the line?
• Have you noticed differences in how kids from small vs. large groups adjust socially?
• What were your own children’s experiences like?

I have been a huge fan of black metal just about all of my life. I descend from Norwegians and have been particularly fascinated by Windir, Ulver, Emperor, Mayhem and the works of the guys behind Borknagar. Their first album contains my favorite early black metal track, 'Dauden', which to this day lacks a transcription and translation. They have never shared as much for artistic purposes, which I have respected while nonetheless checking every once and while to see if one has popped up online. Hello, I am leaving Aurland on Wednesday for Bergen and currently have Norled Cruise Ship tickets booked.

The ship leaves at 3:30pm which is a bit later than I’d want to leave, primarily because I would be getting in Bergen on the later end. I still have some time to get a refund if I wanted to.

I found an alternative which is VY450 Bus followed by R40 train, pictured above.

I was wondering how on schedule this VY450 bus would be. As you can see there is only 14 minutes to make the train, and I’m worried if the bus gets delayed I won’t make the train. Would you recommend this route?

How often do buses between Aurland, Flåm, Gudvangen and Undredal run? I am having a look at the internet and maybe I am not looking at the right place because I see very few buses a day that would make It very difficult

What are some real and actual cultural shocks you’ve experienced? What things surprised you the most and what caught you off guard? When (if ever) did you feel proper homesick and when did you start to feel comfortable and settled in (again, if ever).

Hi, I have an Autopass tag and created an Autopass prepayment agreement, however I can't understand how to make the prepayment.

The site does not really tell me how, they sent an invoice with the amount "to pay" that includes an IBAN, but it does not give any instructions. Communications with autopass are... kind of slow.

Does anybody know how to do it? The most I could find is this, wich weridly does not include making a bank transfer, I don't have a Norwegian bank , nor do I know what eFaktura is.

Can somebody help?

Hi! You might remember me for wanting to do a trip to Jotunheimen one week before the start of the season.

I am back with wanting to do another trip after the end of the season! Aaah the joys of long distance relationships! 😅

My girlfriend is finally able to come visit me in Oslo from the 26th to the 30th of September and we would have liked to go hiking somewhere.

Our original idea was to get a train to Otta and then the bus to the Mysusæter and sleep at the DNT cabin for two nights while hiking around.

I know that is after the end of the season so the cabin will be self serviced. We will bring food our own, but it is my understanding that it is possible to buy stuff inside the cabin as well.

What am I afraid of is the weather, does anyone have any experience with the weather in Rondane around the end of september? Neither of us is really equipped for snow!

There is also the bus problem: because the season is over, there is no bus anymore :D We were thinking of getting a cab then, it's only 15km~, does anyone have an idea of the prices?

Our second proposal was Finse, since we are able to just step off the train and go on a hike, sleep at the hotel. It's less... magnificent than Rondane, but I believe it's a safer option too.

We don't have a car, but for around 1000NOK per day from Avis I think we can afford it if you have some ideas on small tours, although public transport is preferred :)

Ideally, we would leave Oslo Saturday morning and be back in Oslo Monday night.
