The full moon sure did not disappoint! This giant absolutely crushed my 7" swimbait right as the moon peeked above the trees. Nothing like some urban muskies to write off many days without catching no fish. Gotta love ottawa!

Some smallmouth from today, I spooked a few but otherwise about a dozen caught.

On another note anyone think I'll catch anything in green creek by the train bridge ? I want to try it but don't want to waste my precious fishing hours on nothing .

That was a slow couple weeks but we got some great action last night.

QUESTON: What bait did I fish this morning?

Thought it could’ve been a river based on the size, but upon further research, it appears to be just quite a large silver red horse (maybe 5-6 pounds)

Say you walk around the jock or the west branch Rideau, castor, etc,

Find yourself a nice view, no branches above you, nice casting space, moving water with Lily’s, sunken trees etc

How do you know there’s fish there?

By splashes? Bubbles?

How long would you cast at a spot before moving on?

Learning with the family at Long Island, curious on tips and tricks to catch a fish,

After 3 days of full day fishing morning to night and only had one bite, great time for me but boring for the youngings

Tried weedless wacky rig with a senko in the locks and middle of the river,

Tried a bass jig by the locks and docks,

Tried top water frog in the weeds and Lily’s that’s what got our first bite that made a decent splash, couldn’t get the fish to hook on though

Tried live worms on a sinker rig,

Can any one share what works for them at Long Island?

Our experience is catching sunfish and yellow perch at marinas

The fishing was slow. But I managed 7 bass, one perch, and one sunfish. Two of the bass were a good size one was 20.5 inches and the other was 18 inches. The best fishing was in shady spots.

After many outings getting skunked, finally some results again :)

The bass were biting. Managed to catch 9 bass in 2.5 hours. I worked the shoreline. However the problem with this spot is all I have ever caught hear are small smallmouth bass. The largest bass I caught out of the nine was 9 inches. I have yet to catch a bass over 12 inches in this spot. I did see a decent size dead American eel

Second time this year she was caught, she’s got a scar on her back, wonder what tales she could tell. Absolute stunning fish.

Hey so I recently just started fishing after going out with a friend I was hooked to it do and I was wondering about where the best places are to fish in Ottawa within a 1-2 hour drive, I had no luck at the spot my friend kept bringing me so I was wondering where I could catch some nice fish.

Pan fried some king bellys in 1 tablespoon of butter, 1 tablespoon of oil 1 clove of garlic minced, 1 tablesoon of ginger, 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper.

Once cooked through and golden brown. Dab off all the excess oil with a napkin and add 2 tablespoons of sweet chili sauce, a teaspoon of your favorite hot sauce (optional)

Grate another tablespoon of ginger over your fish and let cool.

This recipe could be used with pretty much any fish of your choice.
