Grandads Skye Guides
From the time before Komoot, Strava and Google maps. TBF predates mobile phone. The old man was a influencer before they were a thing

WOW. What an amazing work of art. Honestly, that is what I think about these home made maps and guidebooks, they are works of art. There is a man who used to live in Glencoe, he decided to create a book with maps and all about the different ways up Bidean Nam Bian. When I tell you he put his heart and soul creating it, all you have to do is look at the beautiful maps he drew. It is an amazing guide to the mountain.

Class! I have a small collection of this era of pamphlet guides, what age do you think they are? One of mine has an ad for the portree hotel where the phone number is "1".

That’s ace! There 1st prints were ‘85, scrambles finished ‘89 and walks he revised and reprinted till ‘95. Had a look the walks had tel. nos with the 01 prefix/area code so modern in comparison to 1!!

Great find but what’s being an influencer got to do with the maps?
