Ovarian Cancer patient Hair loss question…

My first chemo round was two weeks ago, next one in one week. It’s the carbo/taxol/avastin combo. I’ve noticed in the last two or three days my scalp has been more tender and today it’s really tender all over. How long after it hits this stage have people noticed their hair really starting to fall out? I’m trying to prepare myself the best I can.

Mine fell out at exactly 18 days post first treatment! And for what it’s worth, I had a terrible “head” time during chemo - these weird pustules, constant tenderness and soreness, folliculitis. Don’t be afraid to ask your doc for treatment for it, I started using clindamycin after the second treatment and it made a huge difference in my poor bald head!

Agree- exactly 18 days. It was wild how other people also told me 18 days and that was exactly correct. I was able to wear a short haircut until then.

18 days seems to be the consensus. Well, Day 18 is this Friday (if you count chemo day as 1) so the countdown begins. Something to look forward to. 😆

How far into your treatment did you have those symptoms you described like the follicular is? Was it very soon after your hair falling out?

I would say it got bad after the third treatment. My head was like bursting with pimple like things, I was wearing those hydrocolloid patches all over 😂 So gross and undignified

Did you get antibiotic cream or pills?

Yep they prescribed Clindamycin and it worked eventually! Those sores were NASTY. I am out so many pillowcases!
