Whichever one is the top one looks a million times better.

That’s the E3 version. Bottom is what we’re getting

All they did was remove a few puddles and make his suit less shiny.

The actual graphics looks amazing IMO, there’s more sharp and brightness (that lighting change)

There is no RTX on Playstation... Ray tracing is a recent technology and is only possible to date with Nvidia RTX 20XX graphic cards and not with AMD graphics (PS4)

The shadows are not so good in the bottom one. Just generic blurs. They did mention they were going to reduce the shininess of the suit as they changed their material pipeline or something and what was shown was too reflective.

I don't think that's a real comparison.

The bottom picture was photoshopped by someone on ResetEra to mimic the lighting of the top pic, to show that it was really just a change in lighting.

Whether it was a downgrade or not, the bottom scene in particular looks a lot better. The larger amount of puddles is very distracting. The top image looks like they had some sort of water fight. The bottom image looks like maybe it rained the night before.

I'd argue, though, that Spidey looks a lot better in the top image.

You know the bottom one is 2018 and E3 is the top, right?

So let's start:

1) The change in lighting leaves the suit less defined. There is musculature on Spidey's right arm and right leg that is visible in the E3 shot that is not visible in the final.

2) The lighting change also removes the gradient color in both the red and blue of the costume. If you look at his right leg, it's a lighter blue because it's in brighter light. Similarly the red on his right arm and head show more shades thanks to the better lighting in the E3 shot.

3) If you look at the left side of Spidey's neck, where it joins the torso, there's an attempt to make the costume wrinkle as though it were fabric. That detail is now lost and does not appear to be a lighting change.

None of which touches the issue of the puddle on the ground which goes from blanketing the area in a giant "O" shape, with reflections of the buildings and the bad guys, to barely being on the right and the top, eliminating reflections entirely.

There's no question the E3 shot (top) looks better than 2018 (bottom).
