Imperialism Tom Barrack struts into Beirut like a 19th-century colonial commissioner, calls Lebanese journalists ‘animalistic,’ lectures the region on ‘civilisation’ and blames all the problems on our ‘region’ on us.

The audacity to complain about “shouting” when American journalists were screaming at Putin just a couple of weeks ago and in a country where politicians debate on CNN and Fox as if they are in a kindergarten is crazy.

Talking about civilisation and “animal behaviour” while their ally is destroying the Middle East is committing a genocide and they themselves bombed half of the region (and the world) is just the usual Western hypocrisy.

The saddest thing about this isn’t the arrogance of the American, it’s the fact that many Lebanese see no problem with this guy and about Ortagus (like they are literally simping for her) and believe that these people will be the one who will help Lebanon to prosper and force Israel to withdraw.

many Lebanese see no problem with this guy

Hell many Lebanese are this guy’s relatives! His grandparents are from Bekaa

How one can turn their nose up so high at their fellow countrymen, who have been through so much, truly beggars belief. And that goes for a lot of Lebanese in Lebanon too

I think he has a point. I don't know the context, but if he promises to address the questions of the press, there is no harm in asking people to calm down. The press yells and screams and acts aggressive because they aren't given the time they deserve. And often, the press members compete with each other.

There's nothing wrong with acting civilized. And yes, in arab countries, we are very chaotic. The public doesn't stand in lines. It's often ME FIRST. We cut through lines. We are still behind when it comes to being as civilized as the west.

But yes, saying that this is "the problem of what's happening in the region" is a bit of a stretch.

You can ask people to stay quiet politely instead of going on a rant about how uncivilised Lebanese journalists are and how this is a representation of the region while these same people call Israel “the only democracy in the Middle East” who not only killed hundreds of Palestinian journalists but also killed Lebanese journalists.

It’s an insult to their memory.

Bruh wtf.

As a student who's studied university in the West and in Arab countries, yes of course there are differences. But to pretend that one is "more civilized" is completely wrong. Americans are loud and sweaty and unshowered, you can hear them speaking mile away. There are many customs in the Arab world which simply don't exist in the U.S. or Western countries, and vice-versa; it goes both ways.

But that has nothing to do with calling people "uncivilized" and acting with obvious colonial attitude.

Like, read his body language. Dude in the video is pretending to be the enlightened European while comparing Lebanese to animals.

"the problem of what's happening in the region" is a bit of a stretch.

"A bit of a stretsh" is the understatement of the fucking century

Edit: clarifying*

We can't all be as cool as Iraq

13

u/Agardenmakingnoise 5d ago

Lebanon is really cool though

u/JaThatOneGooner 5d ago

Some of Lebanon. There’s parts of Lebanon full of Christian fascists that call themselves Phoenicians and anything else just to dissociate with being called arab.

u/JescoWhite_ 5d ago

True, I have a friend like this

u/Nerditshka 5d ago edited 5d ago

The fucking audacity .. Lebanese should have kicked him out of their country.

24

u/Almost_Assured 5d ago

Those who want them kicked out do not attend their conferences, this is just them and their slaves and inhouse business, the others have better things to do.

4

u/_HolyCrap_ 5d ago

MTV and other gulf funded media would at least find excuses for this if not enjoy it. Those are the ones with him in the room.

Voluntary slavery to the white man is a trend among many many Arabs.

2

u/Ok_Lebanon 5d ago

MTV love sniffing their asses

u/golden18lion77 5d ago

A billionaire American private equity real estate investor as special envoy, lecturing the Lebanese in their own country, how utterly obscene and yet not out of the ordinary. What a world we live in.

18

u/skbraaah 5d ago

Lebanon should fully ally with china. the colonial slaves in the government should not be allowed to cost lebanon its future.

2

u/Background-Value-955 4d ago

Yes I'm Lebanese I want to fucking ally with China. Pls god grant me this wish while China is still keeping it's psycho tendencies in check. At least while America is still powerful China will strive to keep decent relationships with it's allies from third world countries.

Wallahi these orientalist pieces of shit genuinely disgust me—-We need more Muntazer El Zaydis to start throwing shoes at them!

Because how are you going to come to someone’s country as a guest and call the people animals ???? Be so serious ….

4

u/DevA248 5d ago

Sheos aren't the only thing that should be thrown at them

13

u/RandomAndCasual 5d ago

He is. mad cause he can disarm Helzbollah, without a fight, so that Zionist can just waltz into Lebanon without losing a single diaper soldier.

10

u/brkonthru 5d ago

كس أخت النفضو

He should be declared personal non grata

8

u/Almost_Assured 5d ago

They wonder why they bombed the US embassy in Beirut in the 80's

4

u/Sea_Square638 Turkey 5d ago

Would be really embarassing if he wasn’t expelled from the country

3

u/DevA248 5d ago

This guy runs a company called Colony Capital. Really fitting name.

Oh and also, he's been involved in scandals for taking money from UAE. Just another creature of American politics.

3

u/vitriolix 5d ago

Famously a great strategy to build confidence with the press is to call them subhuman animals at fault for everything wrong in the middle east.

He’s actually Lebanese himself which makes for an interesting plot twist. He should know better

1

u/Accurate-Ad-4905 5d ago

Is he one of those Lebanese people who only speaks French and says his Phoenician?

2

u/Background-Value-955 4d ago

His grandparents are Lebanese however he's American, and I don't think he likes acknowledging the fact that he has Arab roots.

1

u/OdielSax 5d ago

My jaw dropped. I agree with Baldy that this mentality explains everything about events in the region. Free Palestine.

Someone should have thrown a shoe at this racist patronizing criminal.

He is used to ordering Jolani around

12

u/Scared_Positive_8690 5d ago

Lebanese politicians don’t even need to be ordered around, they have been waiting for this moment since 2006.

They show more hostility towards the people of South Lebanon than towards Israel.

2

u/MisterDucky92 5d ago

Lebanese from the very South (can't go further you end up in Palestine) : can confirm.

But it doesn't matter, they can talk trash all they want, they won't be able to disarm H.

3

u/Background-Value-955 4d ago

Also Lebanese from the very south. I'm not living in my village right now but I'm still living very close to the borders. Anyways even if they destroy the hez itself another group would just take its place, plus continue it's goals, and they would only be stronger and better. Of course we would suffer, but Allah only burdens a soul with what it can endure.

2

u/MisterDucky92 4d ago

Brutal occupation, ethnic cleansing, colonization will always be met with resistance so I agree with you

1

u/Background-Value-955 4d ago

Bint Jbeil people once begged the government to build them bomb shelters, however the government wouldn't do such a thing.
