Holy hell, I'm glad that's done.

Legit thought this was harder than CFRN. Nice work

I just so happen to be starting a RN program this October.

Should have taken it after the RN program. Way easier once you have the nursing stuff down from that. I swear the HESI tests were harder.

Dude, CFRN was SO much easier.

How so? If you don’t mind me asking

It's been a long time since I've done either. But I did both back to back. They had lots of ovelap but I think because nursing throws in a dumb nursing specific section (ethics, autonomy, justice, et al) it reduces the amount of difficult questions they can throw at you.

From what I recall the FP-C had way more hemodynamic questions. Like what does this SVR, PA wedge pressure, etc, indicate? What type of shock are they in?

Or a complex scenario with a random: What would this do to a oxygen dissociation curve if they had this 2-3 DPG?

And lots of balloon pump timing questions.

The CCRN was harder than the CFRN for me personally

Hey thanks!

That makes sense. And I can see why that would make the FP-C seem harder. Either way that is one hell of an achievement

Nice. I passed mine and my agency fucked me over by hiring externally for the positions.

I tried to get one of these, but photo shopping it was gonna take like an hour and I didn't have the discipline.

Seriously, congrats! That's badass! One hell of an accomplishment!

Ey welcome to the club! Literally the only EMS exam that I’ve had to take twice. It’s hard as fuck! Congrats again!!

Strong work! The learning just started!

You’ll need lots of CEU in 4 years… start early and make use of FoamFRAT! Great refresher course and other content.

FP-C was the hardest test I’ve taken, and I also hold CCRN (critical care nurse) and CEN (emergency nurse). Rock on! Congrats.

"Hello, FoamFrat 100 hour refresher". I don't think the nearly 100 hours I've already accumulated this year starting my flight job and getting ready for the FP-C will count, unfortunately.

Now I'm off to an RN school this October

Which class(es) did you take?

u/dragdollb 2d ago

Impact to get an idea then FoamFrat to get understanding. Practiced with PocketPrep and "Back to Basics" by Orchid Lee

How long did you prep for?

  • well done, great achievement

Started with Impact March, so about 6 months. Could really only study in between calls at work and using PocketPrep while I was off. Home life is busy.

I took the UF course but haven’t tested yet, I do have foamfrat though! Did you see things on the test that were in there? Any specific bits of study advice to help prepare for it?

Congrats on passing!!!

A lot of ventilator adjustment questions. They present their patients in centimeters so be sure to know the conversion for centimeters to inches to calculate IBW because the answers will be based on IBW adjustments.

Know your toxidromes and endocrine emergencies. Also have a few heart tone S3/S4 questions.

Thank ya! Best of luck on yours

I took FPC directly out of graduating UF and didn't find it difficult. Derek does a great job of teaching you what you need to know to be prepared.

You lucky bastard I just took the CCP-C and missed it by 3% 400$ and another month of studying 😭

u/StephenSpig FP-C 1d ago

Hell yeah! Welcome to the club. Now the learning REALLY begins!

1

u/Wise_Screen_9462 1d ago

Congrats! I also felt like it was the hardest test I had ever taken, but in a few years, you'll think it was nothing.

u/Anonymous_Chipmunk Critical Care Paramedic 14h ago

Congratulations! I took the CCP-C (substantially similar to FP-C) and it was by far the hardest thing I've ever done. Then I RETOOK the test a few years later because I had to let my cert lapse due to a series of unfortunate events.

Not a small achievement. Great job.
