Serious Septa (and Amtrak) just lost power
I am stuck halfway to 30th street station on the CHW and there is no end in sight. Send Gritty to save me cause we know Mayor Parker is still in bed during this transportation mess.

Serious This is just getting ridiculous. Seen in South Philly.
It looks like it has been there for weeks / months. How are they not constantly getting pulled over? Meanwhile I pay for my tolls, parking permit, parking tickets, etc... If I see this parked i'm 100% taking this thing off, not that it matters. Apparently all you need is a sharpie and an old cardboard box and boom, the laws no longer apply to you.
Edit: There are several people in this thread saying that this person is legitimate and is their mailman. I believe this to be true and I do not want to disparage a working man just going about their business. I am going to leave this up because I still find it absurd that this is official. There MUST be a more appropriate way for USPS to accomplish the same thing. Like an official license plate cover that is provided to the employee with appropriately identifiable markings...

News Hundreds Of Apartments (And Parking Spots) To Go Up Across The Street From Ivy Ridge Regional Rail Station In Manayunk
Big changes are coming to a large, currently underutilized lot at 4889 Umbria St. in Manayunk! A new eight-story building with 384 apartments is planned for the site, which also houses Javies Beverage, Majesty Elite Gymnastics, and Philadelphia Woodworks. The development is raising eyebrows due to its near 1:1 parking ratio (380 spots) for units, especially considering its prime location directly across the street from a regional rail station.

Do Attend Important reminder for dealing with Septa's new everything
MOVE TO THE FUCKING BACK.
No seriously, move your ass to the back of the bus and stop crowding the entrance. We all want to get where we are going but if your dumbasses are all clustered at the front, people can't get on or off very well. Stop being a rude asshole and take your ass to the back with everyone else.
And if you don't want to move, don't bitch when people ram into you so that they can get to the back.

Transit Love how they both raised SEPTA fares and now require bus transfers for routes that used to by a single ride.
*be
A double whammy increase in addition to the added travel time.
After a night of insomnia and zero sleep I made the mistake of going to watch the sunrise. I forgot in my sleep deprivation the hell that would be me getting home after (and there) after 24 hours awake. I will assuredly delte this once I'm rested but for now I am full of hate and venting.
Sunrise was sweet at least.

Do Attend They're coming
Saw this flyer yesterday. It seems our plight has caught the attention of our stellar neighbors. I don't know what this event is; probably some performance, but still holding out hope that the people mismanaging this world might get bitchslapped by technologically advanced interstellar travelers

Transit UPDATE: While we were all stranded due to SEPTA cuts yesterday, Joe Pittstain didn't even bother to come to work; was hosting a fundraiser for himself
In case there was any question as to whether or not he's being intentionally obtuse and cruel to the citizens of Pennsylvania by refusing to pass the budgets from the Assembly. Y'all realize we pay his salary right? And this is how he spends his time?

Serious Seeking adoption
Found in area code, 19111. I took her to ACCT due to an injury and not eating. She was microchipped, but the owners never came to get her. I don’t have the space for a third cat. I know there are hundreds of cats who need adopted. I want to try and get Janet a fighting chance. Her adoption fee is only $45. She is so affectionate, sweet and makes air biscuits. Any advice on how to get her adopted would be great. I won’t allow her to become a time stamped cat.

News Neighbors' Concerns Over Parking Could Doom North Philly Senior Affordable Housing Project
Transforming a vacant lot on Cecil B. Moore Ave into affordable senior housing? The Philadelphia Housing Authority is on it with a 63-unit project! But hold on – community concerns about parking are causing a stir and could put this much-needed development at risk. Can this project overcome the opposition to secure its future and provide homes for those who need them most?

Events Grand Trivia Night @ Future Days in Northern Liberties: This Thursday, 8/28, at 7:30PM!

It looks like thequizzolist
is no longer accepting submissions (and moved their list of trivia nights to some app?), so I figured I would post here. I am hosting a monthly Grand Trivia Night at the Future Days brewery in Northern Liberties (433 Fairmount, between 4th and 5th), and our next installment is coming up tomorrow, August 28, at 7:30PM (and then on September 25th after that).
Grand Trivia Night is less generic than your average trivia event, with all-original, story-driven questions and some local flavor, too! Also, there will be a theme song, game show sound effects, and medals for winners — because that's how we roll around here.
So if you are in the neighborhood and itching to run with a fun new team name like "Smarty Pints" or "One Nation, Under Canada", and enjoy an ice cold, expertly brewed beer while at it, this event is made for you! Also, outside food is welcome!
I included a round of questions from last Grand Trivia Night that was dedicated to Phamous Philadelphians -- folks who at some point or another called Philly home or contributed to the city. See how many of them you know!
Also, if you want to be aware of future events, give our and Future Days' Instagrams a follow: we announce on both!
