Need accommodation near Jefferson Hospital

Hello,

I am an Indian med student looking for the accommodation near Jefferson Hospital. I will be rotating there in the months of Oct and Nov. This is my first time in Philly. Kindly suggest any leads and safer neighbourhoods that I should look for?

My coworker when going through his divorce swore by using long-term monthly set ups on AirBnB.

Stay near Center City. Stay tf out of South and North Philly. Don't go south of Washington Street and don't go north of Spring Garden St. since you're at Jeff, you'll be on the center city side not the University City side of Philly (University City is West of the Schuylkill River and is UPenn/Chop territory). Don't ever go west of 40th street for living as a newbie.

Expect to spend around 1.5k/month.

Disagree on living west of 40th! Obviously neighborhood and street vibe matters, but plenty of excellent stuff further west than that. It's where I started in Philly, and I love it.

That said, with the current SEPTA dumpster fire, it'd probably be wiser for this person to aim in the places you mention, just because it'll be within easier walking/biking distance of Jeff. I'm about to have to commute deep into CC for evening shifts, and I guess I'm gonna have to become a much braver biker.

For some young doctor when you don't know what shifts he's taking? Biking from center city all the way past 40th? He's going to be exhausted, limited time to sleep, and those are some very unfriendly bike roads.

But yes, there are some very lovely neighborhoods in west Philly. But that's not for some newbie who's only got a month.

Totally! I guess I read newbie as just "new to Philly" and not "only gonna be here a month." It would make no sense at all to be further than a mile from the hospital if all you're going to be doing in the city is sleeping briefly between your insane doctor hours.
