It feels like there are a lot of people earning over that amount who are struggling. A lot of whom will be earning "too much" to qualify for any benefits or tax credits which is excluded from the calculation.
Absolutely, and we pay too much out as a country already. I was more just highlighting how this and other support is excluded from being offered to a growing number of the population who are earning and struggling due to the cost of living.
yeah, it's worth noting a lot of the struggle is not due to poverty but due to high energy prices. lowering energy prices needs to be higher up the government's list of priorities, currently the number one priority seems to be somewhere between policing children's gender and saying they're doing something about migration while not doing anything
