Skep sez: Yes, I know.. just bear with Tips to find hidden surveillance in a residential home? (homebrew tscm)

Anyone know of any economical and reliable wys to find hidden devices taking video and audio?

Quick search online shows need expensive gadgets ($10k+ - non linear junction for example) to reliably find such things.

I'm not looking for advice on how to proceed with my situation at home. And please refrain from calling it paranoia. I am sufficiently convinced something(s) is recording video AND audio including in the bedroom and batroom. Again, I am not looking for legal advice.

Any tips? Nothing looks out of place. I imagine the walls are being used. But I couldn't find anything with a cheap $40 I got online.

Before we just assume it isn't paranoia, you need to tell us what makes you "sufficiently convinced" that someone is recording you in your home.

People knowing things they shouldn't know. Nobody is directly saying they are learning this from surveillance device(s) if that's what you mean. I live in a state where notifying is not required.

If people aren't saying what they've learned, how do you know they're "learning things about you"?

They are saying what they've learned. Just not where they got it from

Like what specifically?

I typed up a whole thing about finding surveillance, but I agree with skep, without knowing what evidence has you convinced there is surveillance we can't offer much advice

Way too broad... Do they know the underwear you are wearing, or do they know that you are slacking at work? Are you able to be a lot more specific?

Plenty of people know "things they shouldn't know". Its called being nosy and asking friends (or having friends that blabber too much)

What underwear am I wearing, hmm?

Can't say, it would reveal my sources. But know that I am aroused :)

To help recommend something, it would help to know what you're dealing with.

Is this like a situation where an ex has called a PI?

Can you elaborate on "the walls being used"?

I'm afraid I don't follow, which makes it hard to offer help.

Can you just say, in plain English:

1) Who you believe is listening/watching

2) When you believe it started

3) Why you think someone would be spying on you, specifically

4) What brought your attention to it now.

Again - just simple, plain English to those points. Your last comment didn't really include any information.

My mistake that reply was meant for other poster. But to answer your questions

  1. Unsure. Could be any of the housemates I detailed in my other comment.

2.I don't know when it started. Could have been going for months or longer even.

  1. I can only guess. Perversion, security having no one's privacy in mind, maybe trying to find a thief. Idk

  2. No one incriminates themselves but say things to me that only someone in the room with me would know

Is it fair to say this is pretty stressful, and that's why you're putting time into resolving it?

Are you suggesting I shouldn't bother to resolve it and live with being under surveillance? I would've thought many would be reluctant to do that

No. I asked a specific question. Every time I ask a specific question, you give an unrelated response.

I'm asking exactly what I said: "Is it fair to say you find this pretty stressful?"

You asked me four questions in other post. I answered all. What's missing? I glad to add additional info

To help recommend something, it would help to know what you're dealing with.

Do you mean the devices? I don't know what they are but appear to have video &audio recording capabilities. I believe it(they) are using signal to transmit and are not the kinds of devices that you leave to come back and pick up later.

Is this like a situation where an ex has called a PI?

more like layperson housemates likely placing them. My guess is someone was hired to place maybe PI as you said.

Can you elaborate on "the walls being used"?

is just an uneducated guess on my part saying it's not a easily visible object like teddy bear or camera lens in smoke detector.

Also apologies if I am unable to respond due to reddit requirements if it happens

Is this a roomate thing? A business partner thing? Parents? Like.. who is behind doing this surveillance?

Knowing what you're dealing with, will fine tune the advice.

It’s a mental health thing.

I'm okay with general advice. I only just started researching these things so looking to delve deeper or see if I missed something obvious.

I dont know who is responsible if that's what you're asking. For all I know this could have been strangers. I don't live with business partners but with some friends, long distance relatives, siblings, some parents (not mine) and their kids and a dog. We all have access to every room and tbh could any one of them. I plan to move out in future but will take some time until then.
