Microwave ovens per capita

u/average-teen-guy 5d ago
forget the fact that it obviously isn't the answer, but how tf do you expect me to even gather such data from?

u/StupidUserNameTooLon 5d ago
The Microwave Oven Manufacturer's Association of Ascension Island would be a good place to start. Then you could work up to the larger municipalities from there.

i'll keep that in mind for sure
sadly, this map is not at all microwave related, sorry

serbia = modern serbia and yugoslavia

Olympic gold medals

u/Similar-General-2973 5d ago
Oooh I reckon might be it. Zimb has 1 (Kirsty Coventry)...only thing that's throwing me is India is too red and Jamaica is not red enough

u/Status_Cup24 5d ago
China would be much darker I think!

u/Similar-General-2973 5d ago
Yeah good point. If it was total historical medals, though I don't think China was winning much in the 60s, 70s

u/IndividualSurvey8266 5d ago
Close enough to consider but obviously once you do the investigation it can’t be this

Nobel prize winners?

u/PedanticAsF 5d ago edited 5d ago
Has to be - India has more than China, and Scandinavia, particularly Sweden, is overinflated (tendency to self-award especially for the literature prize).

Is it the total number of Nobel Prize winners?
3
u/MartinVN 5d ago
Pretty sure this is it here's the Wikipedia map for 2018. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nobel_prizes_world_map.svg

u/Holyroller1066 5d ago
Central Africa would say otherwise, along with Nicaragua, from a quick glance. Might be onto something with awards though
2
u/MartinVN 5d ago
Nicaragua is not shaded, that's Costa Rica which received one in '87. DR Congo got one in '18, Tanzania in '21. Was a guess when I first put down, but a few quick checks have panned out so far.

Something to do with carbon emissions? Or environment generally?
10
u/average-teen-guy 5d ago
to say it's environment related would be a really long stretch, you might as well consider it to be not related to environment

France has territory worldwide. This throws things off in so many maps it's not even funny anymore.
But yes, everything more northern than that wouldn't fit in. So it can't be that

Assume they're saying deeper color = they've been something longer. Highly doubt that's even close to what this is though.

Most of Europe would be way lower but China would be the real kicker if the groups were just very volatile

Does it have to do with education? I feel like it’s about literacy rate of either the whole population or women’s education

Looks highly correlated with industry. Production or consumption of something probably. Electricity consumption or greenhouse gas emissions?
