Good gyms in romford?

I'll be moving to collier row next week and just wanted to know what the best gyms are round here. I don't mind pricier ones with facilities like pools or saunas either. Currently with the gym as I get cheap monthly as a student so just wanted to know if i should switch or not or stay with them

From my experience, The everyone active is really expensive, but they have pool , and YouTube on the treadmills but not 24/7. The sign up is a bit of a scam one month they charge double ? Plus fees. I’m not sure but I think the GP can refer you at a cheaper rate if your over a certain bmi / health issues

Pure gym is 24/7 cheap but it’s basic.

I have yet to try the one by the station but looks the same as pure gym

I was looking at the everyone active page and it seems too good to be true. £45 a month for gym, swimming, sauna, high street discounts (i dont put too much stock into this but still) and even private GP? Other gyms offer all this for double the price. What's more is that if you pay annually which is what i usually tend to do with gyms it works out to £37 which sounds insane to me. First month is also only £10 extra for the joining fee which is pretty standard. I'll sign up right now if you can confirm this is all delivered as advertised but you claim it's really good so it has to be right?

Just a couple of questions.

How busy does it get since I'll likely be using it during peak hours.

How big is the gym section and what kind of machines does it have.

I sometimes let my brother use my pin on the rare occasion he wants to exercise so I was wondering if that's possible here. I know some of the better gyms require ID if you want to enter or is this one just pin.

I was a member at the everyone active in Harold Hill and was able to use the one in Romford as well. It's pretty good and does include everything you mentioned.

Yeah same. I like the feature that you could go to either gym. Also to answer OP's question, between 4 p.m - 7 p.m is busy af, also depends on the day. Mondays are usually the busiest. Then with each day the max amount drops, with having like half the people from monday, that go on sundays. To enter you use your phone. Also when u make your membership with them, they'll ask you to download the app and register, so best to do that at home, and come prepared. Also u can pay for a full year there too (I do that). In april they raised the prices to either 350 or 400, I don't remember. Also they have a bunch of fitness classes included: like pilates, body combat, body pump, cycling, etc if you're into any of that. The pool lockers are with £1 coins, so u won't need to buy a lock.

I personally like it, been going for the past 4 years. Oh also you have 1 free hour with the trainer, if u need them to make u plan.

Sounds really good. I'll likely try for a few months and pay annually too since I usually do that for other memberships anyway. Thanks.

I’ve recently switched to Everyone Active (Sapphire) from PureGym. I go during the afternoon 2-3pm and it’s normally not that busy. PureGym at the same time is rammed and you will be queuing for machines at all hours. Don’t even think of going in the evening.

It’s a nicer gym overall, cleaner and less full of kids. The range of machines is not quite as good as PureGym but they do have some nicer stuff (seated leg curl) and it’s generally in much better condition.

I don’t use any of the other facilities so can’t comment on those.

Oof about the range. Do they at least have a standing leg extension station, sled (critical to my routine) or battle ropes? Those are the only esoteric pieces of equipment I use regularly that are not always available in smaller gyms. I'd also love if there was a ladder but that's the stuff of myth in UK gyms.

Now that I've moved and been to the area I cannot say I'm impressed with the smell lol. Western road bus stop makes me dizzy with the smell of piss and vomit that is always there no matter what lol.

No to all of those unfortunately.

Just fell to my knees. No sled is a real kicker

How much is pure gym? I was always under the impression that it must be expensive.

Idk about pure gym but the gym can be dirt gym. I've been using their student membership for years and I don't think I've verified my student status even once. This past year I paid 200 for a whole year which comes out to under £17 a month. Less than pre covid prices. It also let's you use any gym since you get a secondary gym location which you can switch around whenever so I was sometimes in random gyms across the country without paying a penny extra.

Wait so u tell them you're a student when u make your membership and they don't ask for proof?

That's how it's been for the last 3 years I've done it. Idk why they do it like that and I can't confirm for sure if thats the case for everyone but I definitely haven't ever verified my student status.
