dell 7214 hdd caddy plus m.2 sandisk 512 gb 2280 not recognized?

once this caddy with 2280 sandisk 512 gb is inserted, the 7214 can not power on.

why?

I don't have the laptop but i assume this is one of those 2.5" SATA caddy?

In that case check that your M.2 is SATA and not NVMe.

i assume the caddy is 2.5”.

i am using nvme 2280

i will try sata m.2

ordered this one. put into the dell caddy. works.

tried mint 22.1, cannot install

tried slack 15, installed, cannot boot.

tried fedora 42 workstation, works now.

have not used fedora more than 10 years, kind of surprise to me.
