Mason Miami If the older intent wheel for help/harm/grab/push is desirable how can I get this change started?

About two months ago I was talking about this and it seemed like most people agreed the older system was more desirable, in fact I don't play as much. Then I never really followed up on it, actually I don't know how to get started really.

I guess I'm looking for coders and codebases that want the change. It seems like TG is a good starting place things generally get changed on TG and then seem to trickle out to a lot of other TG based or TG compatible codebases. Why not become a coder? I don't have time and the combat code is too complex for a person learning code to mod at the level I'm asking.

I feel like I'm asking for a change that most of us want. I ran a earlier topic over this(it's already linked in above text.) and generally people responded in the positive for this change so I'll feel a little weird if opinions changed or different people weigh in because they weren't participating 2 months ago so just be chill if you're explaining that we can work together over this if you're chill.

I mean it's probably not the answer you want to hear, but realistically the answer to 'how can I get this change started' is 'When you code it'
Change in a game like SS13 comes about through direct action (making a PR for it)
That is to say, codebases that want intents will already have intents (because they either never got rid of them, or ported them themselves)
And codebases that no longer have intents will, of course, have decided to switch.
You also have to factor in that, in a broad sense, what people say on reddit is not really actually indicative of what ss13 players or coders actually desire. As with every subreddit really, this is a rather small subset of the community.

As it's been classically told we needed updates to the intent system to fix bugs, lag, and exploits. The coder who did it also got to insert their new combat system whether we wanted it or not but we needed the update too badly to reject it. If this is accurate it's hard to say but this is what I've been told.

You never really got the luxury that SS14 got, where the combat didn’t have to be retconned into an engine that didn’t want it.

I like how Monke does it, where you can switch back to the old intents system in the settings. Keeps people that like combat mode happy, as well as people that prefer intents (myself included).

Monke station already did this? Well shit.. I guess my topic is kind of defunct.... Thanks for your time ladies and gentlemen! I'm outta here.

We have both as a toggle.

The game has to be more inclusive to ss14 players (because there are more of them)

Honestly, Combat mode system is much much more intuitive and better for new players coming into the game

How much can you pay me to do it?

Nobody should hire a coder for private projects without a résumé of previous SS13 projects and references from server owners, head coders, council members/or equivalent.

I've been paid a lot for commissions on ss13, mostly on fallout ones.

Monke has the option to use either combat style and a poll to see which one is preferred
