Cunversatzione Solo Travel Suggestions (Boating, dinners, Orosei vs La Maddalena)

Hello lovely people! :)

I am 30yo male traveling solo Sep 23-28. Landing in Olbia the 23rd afternoon and leaving from Olbia 28th morning. I plan on renting a car from Olbia. I could use some advice/suggestions on where to stay and activities.

My goal is to drink espresso in the morning, go to the beach all day, and eat at a restaurant in the evening. I am not too keen on clubbing or heavy drinking, but I wouldn't mind a low key glass of wine with some strangers.

My must-do's are boating the Baunei Coast and La Maddalena.

My tentative plan is:

  • Tuesday 23: Land in Olbia and drive to hotel in Orosei and get settled and have dinner
  • Wednesday 24: Dinghy rental in Cala Gonone
  • Thursday 25: Dinghy rental in Cala Gonone
  • Friday 26: travel up the coast and stop by a beach, dinner at Lu Stazzu or check out San Pantaleo.
  • Saturday 27: yacht trip La Maddalena
  • Sunday 28: fly out Olbia

Some concerns that I may need advice on.

  • Where to stay for good dinners? Orosei, Baunei, Palau?
  • Is it better to dinghy rent from Baunei or Cala Gonone?
  • Anchoring my dinghy and leaving it unmanned while I lay on beach.
  • What to do if I have to use the restroom while on my dinghy trip -_-
  • Stay longer in Orosei or La Maddalena?
  • Car rental returns at Olbia early in the morning before flight? aka how long does it take and are security lines long?
  • For dinghy rentals or yacht/catamaran trip is early reservation necessary and how much does it cost?

I may try and change my flight to fly in the 22nd to have more time on the island as well.

Thank you all in advance!

Dinghy rental is going to be expensive and a bit risky for one person alone. It's a real motorboat and unless you are very experienced, I wouldn't recommend it. Take a boat tour, they come in all sizes and shapes.

I will take your caution accordingly. However, I have read other posts saying that the dinghy's are quite easy to drive. The price I am seeing is 150 euro which is manageable. I do like the idea of doing a boat tour one day to scope out what it's like first before doing a dinghy the next day.

Have you ever taken a boat on the open sea? Prices in the summer were closer to 300 Euros plus gas.

I have taken a boat on open sea. I didnt drive it personally.

I think since I will be end of september prices will be much lower. I am seeing quotes for 100-150 euro plus gas.
