Pregonta What to expect in Olbia?

Hi everyone! I will be going on a work trip to Olbia next month and I want to make the most out of it, so I have a few questions.

As it usually happens with work trips, I won't have much time to do stuff during the day. Is there much nightlife in Olbia? Is it safe to walk alone at night (I'm a woman, btw)? Is there anything you recommend doing as an absolute must?

Also, I have never been to Italy, so I don't know what to expect. Do people in shops usually speak any English, or should I start learning some phrases in Italian? Do I need to bring cash with me?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am super excited about visiting!

I live in olbia and I can say it's super safe. We still have a lot of tourists but in October it might slow down a lot but I'm sure the usual locals will be having aperitivo and eat out.

There aren't many clubs mainly in the city center but people love to go for walks and gelato.

They speak OK English over here in most of the places so you won't have great problems. Cash is not really needed. If you want to bring like 50 euros with you to stay on the safe side do it. Bear in mind is illegal not offering card payments, some places like the taxi drivers might try to discourage you paying by card but they are usually pretty chilled when you tell them you don't have any alternative.

If you tell me in which area you'll stay I'll be able to help you more. Olbia is a bit weird and there are many areas and many ways to live it.

Thank you for your answer. I'll be staying near the archaeological museum.

Olbia is generally safe as long as you avoid the railroad crossings area near Via Vittorio Veneto, it's pretty much a getto there.
