Pregonta End of October where to stay

Planning a trip to Sardinia the last week of October. We’ll fly into Olbia and want to see some nice beaches (thinking Costa Smeralda is best for that).

Not sure where to base ourselves though. Olbia seems practical (restaurants/shops open, easy day trips), but we’re also looking at Porto Rotondo or Golfo Aranci.

Question is: end of October, are those towns basically dead? Like hard to find a restaurant, nowhere to walk around/grab a drink/etc.?

Anyone been there around that time and can share some advice?

Àteru Do NOT eat pizza at the Olbia airport

Last night I was leaving Sardinia through the Olbia airport. I bought a 7.50€ slice of pizza from Kara Pizza. It was very basic with cheese and olives. It was fresh out of the oven when I ate it. I got home 2-3 hours later and threw up for 4 hours straight in the middle of the night. It was 100% food poisoning! Be careful and avoid eating there.

Notítzia/News Oristano - Olbia/Macomer replacement bus questions

Hi all, in the next few days I will need to use the transport system to get from Cagliari to Olbia (driving is not an option for me).

Previously, I could simply take a direct train between the two. However, this is currently not an option due to the current trainline construction works.

My understanding is that a replacement bus is available, which runs between Oristano and Olbia (or between Oristano and Macomer, and then use the train from Macomer afterwards). Here are the questions though:

  1. Is the replacement bus station in Oristano located nearby the train station?
  2. Can one manage to travel with larger suitcases in those replacement buses?

Notítzia/News One night stop - Olbia to La Maddalena

We’re flying into Olbia quite late on a Wednesday and have a couple of nights booked in La Maddalena from the Thursday to the Saturday.

I believe the ferry doesn’t travel all night so where would be a good place to stay on the Wednesday night? Olbia, Palau or somewhere else? I’ve got somewhere booked in Palau but it isn’t the nicest so any recommendations welcome!

Pregonta Horseback riding in the southern hills

My girlfriend and I stay in the south coast this week, relatively close to Cagliari. We'd like to explore the hills with nice views over the ocean and think a horseback tour would be a great fit. I found a tour on freedome, but we think it'd be nice to support local ranches. Do you have any tips on places we can go to or terms we can search for online? We're not experienced with horses at all. We have a car, so a bit of a drive is okay.

Pregonta Need help from locals with weather prediction

Hello.

Me and my friends are planning trip to Sardinia in last week of the September. We have been watching weather predictions but they differ based on the source. Some of them say it will be mostly 28°C but some of them list 24°C in average. I know it may be to early for profound weather prediction but can anybody at least point me to the best source of weather in Sardiania. I appreciate every help and thank in advance.

Pregonta Visiting May 17-21

Hello,

I will be visiting Sardinia May 17-21, 2025, and need some advice on where to stay. My boyfriend and I would like to stay at a nice hotel. Right now my bf is really into Hotel Le Dune Piscinas on Costa Verde. Is staying in that region a good idea for four days? I know its less developed, so I'm worried we wont have much to do- especially if its not warm enough for pool/beach everyday. I however, am leaning towards the Baunei Coast, as the beaches look very beautiful and the proximity to Supramonte gives us a lot of options for outdoor activities since it may not be beach weather all the time at that point in May.

Any thoughts or advice would be helpful.

I'd love to hear about any restaraunts people would reccomend in the area or other activities.

Thanks in advance!

Pregonta Help me pay my parking fine

Hello, I’ve received a parking ticket whilst on holiday in Alghero and want to check with someone that I’m doing this correctly with my Google translate Italian. Particularly how I make sure it’s correctly associated to my ticket / car hire. Thanks in advance.

Following the instructions, I get myself to following webpage that simply asks for amount to pay (I can’t work out if it’s 25 euros or 50 euros from my translations?) reason for payment “sanzione in area terrestre” (do I write my ticket number here? should I also include number plate of car hire?) then have assumed I choose “anonimo” tickbox for Tax ID. Following screenshots of webpages after, where I entered my email address and chosen Apple Pay, with receipt being sent to associated email.

Cunversatzione Car rental

Hi all,

Me and my boyfriend are going to Sardinia 27 Sept – 3 Oct. We land in Cagliari and will be staying in Villasimius for the week.

We want to rent a car but ideally one that doesn’t need a big deposit. I saw Centauro mention “no deposit required” – has anyone used them and can confirm if that’s true?

Also, if you have any tips or other companies to recommend, I’d really appreciate it! First time renting in Sardinia so not sure what to expect.

Thanks so much!

Pregonta Dinner with Wife / Sea View

Buon Giorno my friends,

I kindly ask the insiders and professionals among you for some help.

My wife and I will soon be visiting your beautiful island, and it happens to be around the time of her birthday. Of course, I would love to take her out for dinner that evening in Olbia. The restaurant should have a slightly kitschy, romantic view of the sea. We will dress up nicely, but we’re definitely not the yacht-club type. We just want something romantic and beautiful – and honestly, Italians are number one when it comes to that anyway :D

So please, do you perhaps have a few tips for me?

Grazie Mille

Pregonta 5 Nights

My wife and I are visiting Sardinia for 5 nights in Sardinia w a plan to come back longer another time so I know we won’t get enough time in any one place but I do want to drive south to north and see the island. I have spent a great deal of time in Italy, having study in Florence many years ago for a year and a number of extended trips back. Florence will always be a favorite but as Italy has become busier over the last 35 years, I find that I enjoy places that are a more local and a bit less touristy, which I know is difficult to find. We were in Sicily last year and we enjoyed staying in Noto much more than Taormino or Ortigia for example, as it felt more authentic and less touristy, although we left Noto during most of the days, food was simple and good (and not anything Michelin). We’re planning to drive from the airport Olbia to Costa Rei when we arrive for three nights and then back north for two. I know, not enough time to do it well but it’s the time we have this trip. I’ve been monitoring this group for a while and have lots of ideas but it’s not easy to collate all the different threads so…

SQuestions. We have full two days and three nights in the south and other than beaches, anybody able to share any highlights for us to hit, great walks, hikes, historic sites, etc in the area or good local restaurants for dinner between Costa Rei and Cagliari? Plan is to then meander our way by car back north one day, stopping in a town or two to walk, hike, tour, , have lunch, etc. Any route you might suggest? We plan to charter a boat the last day and would likely depart from Porto Cervo but prefer not to stay there and was thinking San Teodoro or another town within 30 to 45 minutes. Suggestion for town, hotels or good restaurants for a couple nights?

Thanks in advance.

Pregonta 7 days - 7 nights trip to north Sardinia

Hello all

I am going with my mum to Sardinia. We want to hike and see beautiful landscape, see beautiful beaches, cute town, and also do boat to see dolphin and snorkeling.

We will rent a car. We are going for 7 days.

We arrive in Olbia at night so spending the 1st night there. (I don't count that as a day)

2nd day go to Palau and take the boat to la Maddalena. Then night 2nd-3rd-4th in la Maddalena but I am not sure if it's too much and cutting a day/night somewhere else ? Maybe 2nd-3rd night would be enough ? Also, should we go at la Costa Smeralda on the way ?

Then, we want to go Santa Teresa and do some hike from there. So it would be 5th day and 6th day. Is is worth it ? Or is one night enough ? We are also planning to stay there 2 nights, so 5th-6th night if we stay 3 nights in La Maddalena.

Then.. my mum wants to go back near Olbia, but I feel we are missing so much. What about Castelsardo ? What about Porto Torres, Stintino. And moreover, Alghero, which I feel is a big miss ?

What would you change in this plan ?

Thank you a lot

Cunversatzione Night life in Cala Ganone

I’m going to Cala Gonone in late September for a wedding. I’m excited about the idea of relaxing days at the beach, but I’m also interested in the nightlife. I’ve seen some videos, but it seems like most of the nightlife happens near Olbia.

I’m not necessarily looking for a nightclub, but some nice bars with a good atmosphere. So I’m wondering—does Cala Gonone have a nightlife scene, and if so, could I get some recommendations?

Cunversatzione Olbia weather

Hi all, I was wondering if you would recommend living in Olbia due to the summer. What I am referring to is when the temperature goes past 30c I sometimes struggle, and would like to enjoy the summer and the city.

Would you recommend still thinking of moving to Olbia or look somewhere else maybe Sicily? I’m fed up of the cold winters in the UK.

Pregonta Driving/Car Share

Hey all, me and my girlfriend are travelling to Sardinia and in a tricky situation. We are unable to get an International Drivers Permit in time as she’s Canadian. Is anyone driving from Cagliari to Cala Gonone area on 6th Sept or recommend the best route? Thanks!
