Here we are, 30 years after I started listening to screamo and we’re still using the term “underground” as if it’s a badge of honour.

I feel like what, at least, I define underground is, yeah, "rare" in a sense, but also someone who deserves way more recognition and respect for their music that is "underground", essentially defining it as "unknown" in a way

Whatever. By your own definition all Screamo is underground (not mainstream). So you’re either looking for less well known (obscure) or less lauded (underrated) bands.
