As a French, this feels like high praise from our best frenemies!

Honestly, the French are loved in the UK. Never heard anyone insult the French genuinely, and when they do, it's all just been jokes because they feel like they have to

Pardon?!?

I though France has the strongest love-hate relationship with Germany, not the UK.

I mean, Germany, you're a really nice country, everyone knows that. It’s not really about you, you know... It’s just, we've had this on and off thing with the UK for a while now.

And let's be real, the last time we tried playing together, you ignored the safe word (although "Treaty of Versailles" sure was a mean choice on our part)... Then, the UK was nice enough to allow us to stay at their place so we could get back on our feet. That being said, I'm sure we can try for a three-way frenemy-ship, but you've got to understand that we cannot push the UK away.

Well, the UK left us, didn't they?

They held a referendum and the majority who voted wanted to leave. Then they held a second referendum, our hopes were high for our family to stay united, but nope, same result.

Maybe France is too cool to care, but Germany looks at an old family photo every night, gently brushing a finger tip over the UK, while silently crying and wondering what it could have done differently to make the UK stay. 🥺

What second referendum? I'd love another one but we definitely didn't get one.

England - France is the greatest rivalry in human history. We spent hundreds of years fighting in Europe and then literally went to war against eachother in a race of global domination. We created entire countries across nearly every continent on the planet through our rivalry. Germany - France was limited to a single continent and covered a significantly shorter period of time. Polls have also been taken and both English and French populations almost unanimously agree on the other being their biggest rivals.

Sorry but it's no contest.

Well, greatest rivalry isn't necessary the same as the greatest love-hate relationship.

Also, the UK left the family (EU), where as France and Germany still sit at the head of the table during family dinner. ;)
